Responsibilities The basic purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical direction in the assigned biologics production area according to company policies and corporate business plans to provide technical competence through proper selection and training of staff and the workforce, to implement and maintain compliance status (cGMP, OSHA) within the department, to implement strategies to reduce cost of goods and improve existing production processes. The incumbent will represent the interests of their assigned area to business contacts (customers, suppliers, etc.) inside as well as outside Elanco.
Functions, Duties, Tasks:
Directs the manufacturing of site products, including Antigen, Formulation, Filling and Freeze-Drying.
Provides a focus on the health and safety aspects of manufacturing to create an injury-free workplace and reduce the environmental footprint.
Ensures equipment and personnel are capable and qualified to safely and efficiently manufacture site products in a way that meets regulatory and compliance standards, specifications and manufacturing standards.
Delivers reliable customer supply of products by ensuring appropriate production cycle times, right-the-first-time operations, optimizing operational up-time and reduction of losses.
Ensures continuous improvement atmosphere through process monitoring, deviation and down-time reduction, optimize production capacities and maintain a focus on manufacturing costs.
Creates an environment where people are our largest asset. Leads succession management, talent identification and mentoring/coaching of others in the organization.
Promotes collaborative problem solving while instilling personal accountability.
Leads a cross-functional flow team to achieve business results by following the manufacturing standards of excellence.
Participates in the implementation of the Fort Dodge manufacturing strategy to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the production goals for both short and long term.
Active member to the Site Leadership Team and is involved driving site decision on safety, quality and operations.
Prepare resource plans and operational expense budgets based on production forecasts.
Assist in the development of capital plans and preparation of design specifications for equipment and facilities to manufacture vaccines for sale in all markets.
BS in microbiology, biology or biotechnology (chemical/biochemical engineering) or related field
12 years’ years Animal Health Vaccine experience, minimum 8 years demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing, engineering and/ or Process Development management.

More than 6 years in leading employees, leaders, projects and businesses/functions. Responsible for $20-25 million budget. Decisions directly impact biological product availability for domestic and global markets.
