Responsibilities The Protein Optimization Team of Biotechnology Discovery Research is looking to fill a position which is responsible for contributing to generating, characterizing, and optimizing biotherapeutics from lead generation to lead optimization and preclinical development. Individuals on the Protein Optimization Team contribute to cross-disciplinary efforts to engineer innovative biotherapeutics that treat metabolic and autoimmune disorders, cancer and other diseases.
Lilly is seeking a highly motivated research associate to join this multidisciplinary team focused on optimizing protein biotherapeutic agents.
Some responsibilities of the successful candidate will involve:
Creating novel engineered proteins, including construction of DNA expression vectors, microbial expression and purification, as well as using biochemical and biophysical techniques to characterize the properties of the resulting molecules.
Plan and execute iterative improvements to the initial designs by using data generated.
Communicate results clearly and concisely
Function effectively in a team environment.
Bachelors degree in Biochemistry or related field
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
Masters degree preferred
Relevant industrial or academic experience.
Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques.
Experience in purification of proteins from microbial and mammalian expression.
Experience with basic protein characterization techniques (SDS-PAGE, analytical size exclusion chromatography, etc.).
Experience in protein structural modeling and engineering.
Experience characterizing protein stability by circular dichroism, differential scanning calorimetry or other methods.
Experience in static or dynamic light scattering methods.
Experience in velocity or equilibrium sedimentation methods.
Experience measuring protein-ligand interactions by surface plasmon resonance, isothermal titration calorimetry or other methods.
