Organization Overview:

Lilly Neuroscience is seeking an experienced scientist (Bachelors or Masters) to join the Neurodegeneration team to facilitate its mission of discovering novel medicines for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and other related neurodegenerative conditions. The individual will join a laboratory focused on cutting-edge biochemical techniques to support our expanding neurodegeneration portfolio and they will leverage their technical expertise to deliver high quality biochemical data to support identification/development of novel targets for Neurodegenerative conditions. A key focus of the researcher will be the implementation of multiple biochemical techniques to support therapeutic investigations in pre-clinical animal models. Importantly, the individual will collaborate with colleagues across the Neurodegeneration group to facilitate both exploratory and portfolio workstreams. The scientist must possess a strong work ethic and an ability to quickly master numerous new biochemical techniques. Lilly has a proud record of drug development for Neurodegenerative diseases that has been driven by a highly collaborative and diverse team of accomplished scientists.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and run biochemical assays (ELISA/Western) for analyses of preclinical in vivo samples

  • Perform tissue extractions on samples from mice, rats, NHP, and human

  • Assay optimization and biochemical analyses of fluid biomarkers (CSF/plasma)

  • Primary culture of CNS cell types (microglia/neurons)

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field with minimum two years of post-degree relevant academic or industry work experience.

Additional Preferences:

  • Strong skills and significant experience in developing/ performing new biochemical applications.

  • Accurate, timely record keeping and data analysis with clear organization.

  • Clear communication of data with supervisor and project teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

  • Extensive understanding of assay development

  • Deep understanding of multiple biochemical approaches/assays

  • Cell biology expertise

  • Drug development experience

  • Strong communication/presentation skills
