Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Sr Director, serve as a lead business process owner for Research Operations business systems (high level processes, IT systems and performance metrics). This role will drive and influence the operation, compliance and quality status of Research Operations business systems. The responsibilities include development and management of a communication portal for the Research community, a library of process documents, job aids, and work flows.

  • In partnership with the Research Data Integrity and Security team, implement effective technical, administrative and operational support for Research Operations systems

  • In partnership with Research Operations leadership and expert staff, develop and manage a communications portal for the Research community that includes process documents, job aids, and work flows for processes supporting the following (but not limited to) research operations capabilities – quality, ethics and compliance, hazard and risk assessment, veterinary services, scientific support of third parties and information systems

  • Deliver and analyze performance metrics for the Research Operations capabilities

  • Identify and implement improvements to Research Operations and business operations and IT processes

  • Participate, as appropriate, in business and IT governance as well support the development and execution of the strategic vision for Research Operations

  • Develop relationships with key experts to implement strategic system related projects and tools on time and within budget

  • In partnership with key business partners determine and understand the system requirements and necessary business systems support resource needed

  • Benchmark internal and external research operations business systems and capabilities

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a scientific or technically business related field

  • 5 years in pharmaceutical research and development

  • Extensive process improvement experience

  • Demonstrated capability to work effectively with internal and external business partners

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and/or maintain enterprise business systems including work flow applications, Share Point and end user tools

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex analytical problems and recommend solutions based on analyses and business understanding

  • Demonstrated ability to influence business leaders at all levels of the organization using data analysis when making recommendations

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience managing change programs

  • Demonstrated awareness of industry standards and best practice relevant to the role

  • Six Sigma Black Belt

  • PMP Certification

  • Strategic planning experience and ability to make critical linkages between strategy and appropriate tactics
