Responsibilities The Integrated Services Group manages the implementation of complex projects related to the Lilly single global instance of SAP, as wells as other systems and processes that connect to SAP. This team supports all business units and divisions of the corporation. Projects include the integration of new plant sites, changes related to logistics, acquisitions, divestitures, system upgrades, and integration of new technology for purpose of automation or meeting external requirements. Team members include global process owners, subject matter experts, master data experts, and other support roles who help manage the end-to-end integration. This group also provides production support and master data governance. The Integrated Services works in close partnership with the Information Technology team in support of all initiatives.

Purpose of the Position:

Master Data Governance is essential to the successful use of SAP at Eli Lilly and Company. Without clean, accurate, relevant, and consistent master data, SAP cannot be leveraged to its full potential.

The Finance Global Data Expert is globally recognized as an internal consultant of Finance master data and fulfills a fundamental element for sound master data governance. This role ensures that the data model supporting Finance (O2C, P2P, ICO, & GA) is aligned to enable flawless execution of end-to-end business processes. The Global Data Expert’s mission is to implement standards for proactive master data management while ensuring consistency in governance across supply chain and finance. Through the depth and breadth of technical expertise of the Global Data Expert, processes to deliver master data creation, master data changes, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and ongoing data quality are reliable, sustainable and robust.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Drive Master Data Governance Globally for Finance

  • Develop and maintain the strategy for managing the lifecycle of master data and apply this concept to the creation, change, inactivation and deletion of the Finance master data

  • Influence the adoption of the data lifecycle management strategy globally throughout Finance.

  • Govern the create / update of global data field values by determining options and possible values. Determine and design the available dropdown options as needed.

  • Establish security design to guarantee only authorized users can access their data

Establish and lead the global adoption of Finance Master Data Quality

  • Identify critical data fields and define business rules to maintain the accuracy, completeness, relevancy, and consistency of these fields

  • Establish rule governance, development and implementation approval

  • Define and design the reporting scheme for Finance Data Quality Dimensions and KPI’s

  • Decide and take action to cleanse master data through this reporting scheme

  • Lead the Global and Local Data Analysts in their data quality responsibilities

  • Anticipate, analyze, and resolve Global Master Data Quality issues for Finance

Project Leadership

  • Lead the master data workstream for Large Projects impacting Finance master data

  • Consult and advise Global Data Analysts in their project support work for small to medium projects

  • Design improvements to the extract, transform, and loading of master data

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Innovate, create, and drive master data management solutions to improve execution of business processes

  • Engage with Global Process Owners to ensure all enhancements to any particular process requiring master data changes will be fully vetted for use throughout the end-to-end business process

  • Develop and deliver competency models for master data professionals

  • Ensure all master data SOPS, User Guides, Job Aids are routinely updated

  • Formally mentor several Global Data Analysts

  • Build relationships to integrate data governance practices with Supply Chain, Product Costing, and Quality

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Management, Engineering, Sciences, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, a related field or prior equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years working with SAP

  • A minimum of 2 years working with SAP master data within Finance and/or Supply Chain

  • At least 5 years Lilly or industry experience in supply chain, finance or data management

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Demonstrated ability to bring together, influence, drive change, and ensure accountability from all levels of personnel and management without direct authority

  • Previous SAP implementation experience

  • Deep cross-functional knowledge of SAP data design within Finance and/or Supply Chain

  • Strong understanding of downstream business impact of data fields and integration with other SAP modules

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, design, map, cleanse, and discover SAP master data through project work

  • Ability to triage and analyze ambiguous issues

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work as a member of global cross-functional business and IT teams

  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal customer relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement global, cross-functional processes and standards

  • Ability to work in teams or independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, and implement mitigating steps to keep projects on schedule to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional decision-making

Additional Information

  • Work shift: Full time, normal work shift

  • Due to the nature of the support activities, some overtime and/or “off hours” effort may be required during peak business times

  • Some international travel will be required (up to 20% of the working time)
