Responsibilities LAN services are managed by the Global Network Services (GNS) organization within Global Infrastructure Services (GIS). The LAN service scope is global and includes services for wired, wireless and physical connectivity, Domain Name System (DNS), and IP Address management. These services are provided through the managed services agreement with AT&T.
The primary role of the Global LAN Architect is to oversee global service delivery, solution delivery and drive strategic implementations for the LAN services.
Global Service Delivery
Manage service provider performance for LAN services by conducting regular service reviews, auditing service provider performance against SLAs, and escalating performance issues through the defined governance structure.
Drive improvements by reviewing service provider's improvement plans to ensure the service improvement plan addresses root cause effectively.
Drive cost efficiency into the delivery of global LAN services.
Perform capacity and demand planning with service provider - Forecast customer demand for all in-scope and new services.
Drive resolution of major LAN service outages by influencing the service provider's recovery and permanent fix plans.
Influence the service provider’s disaster recovery plan to ensure it sufficiently addresses Lilly's business continuity for LAN services by reviewing the plan regularly and participating in disaster recovery tests.
Meet frequently in regularly-scheduled governance meetings with the service provider.
Global Solution Delivery
Influence service provider’s LAN solution designs by reviewing with the business to ensure requirements are met in the most efficient manner.
Authoritatively consult on LAN related services and projects.
Influence the service provider's proposed solution by performing market research to ensure proposed vendor solution is viable and cost effective
Drive resolution of key technical and business issues related to LAN projects
Global LAN Strategy
Drive LAN20 Strategy which includes wired, wireless and physical connectivity, Domain Name System (DNS), and IP Address management.
Ensure successful transition from LAN7 to LAN20 Architecture.
Ensure service provider's proposed solutions meet Lilly's architectural requirements and business needs.
Influence the timing of introduction of new LAN capabilities to ensure the right capabilities are being delivered at the right time.
Maintain and communicate service roadmaps that describe when key capabilities will be delivered by LAN service providers.
Project management experience
3+ years of experience -comprehensive knowledge of LAN services in scope, with specific knowledge of operations and vendor management.
Experience of indirect management - managing by influence as opposed to positional authority
