The Lilly Sales Apprenticeship Program is a 13-month (fixed duration employee) program for people without a 4-year degree. As a Lilly Sales Apprentice you will receive a combination of formal training, on-the-job learning, and mentoring in a key functional area to be equipped to compete for a Lilly position after successful completion of the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices will have the opportunity to advance their careers, including consideration for full-time positions at Lilly. Qualified candidates must be geo-flexible and willing to relocation upon the successful conclusion of the Sales Apprenticeship Program.

Key Responsibilities:

LDO Primary Care Sales Apprentices are responsible for driving business results in their territory and contributing to the success of their team with a Team Lilly mindset. The role includes developing relationships with Primary Care physicians to increase Lilly’s ability to drive adoption of our diabetes therapies.

  • Develop knowledge over time of one disease state represented in Lilly Diabetes including knowledge of competitive products.

  • Identify and develop business relationships with key customers, teaching institutions, key influencers/prescribers, and grow in diabetes expertise over time.

  • Drive sales growth of one product in the portfolio.

  • Build outstanding customer experiences by engaging in active dialogue to understand the customer’s needs and delivering appropriate resources and relevant information to influence appropriate use of product portfolio.

  • Effective selling of one product during each sales call.

  • Effective account management skills to develop an account/HCP target list, evaluate and set an appropriate territory workload, and achieve key efficiency parameters.

  • Sell in a changing health care environment, utilizing critical thinking and strategic mindset to understand the environment (payer, health systems, business) and gain access to the customers to make an impact on patients’ lives.

  • Work with Lilly Partners to leverage impact across your territory and district.

  • Operate with high integrity and comply with Lilly policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Qualified candidate must be geo-flexible and willing to relocation upon the successful conclusion of the Sales Apprenticeship Program

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Two years of Sales or Medical experience

  • Bilingual skills as aligned with territory and customer needs.

  • Live within the territory or within 30 miles of territory boundaries.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate with partners.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with key accounts

  • Demonstrated ability to learn, apply and communicate technical/scientific knowledge over time.

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed term position up to a maximum of 4 years.
