Responsibilities Lilly Biotech Center in San Diego is looking for a Biologist within the Discovery/Protein Engineering group. The position involves a) discovery and optimization of novel antibodies and proteins; and b) discovery platform and assay development.
You will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, interacting with colleagues at the San Diego site and other sites within Lilly to discover and develop clinical reagent, biomarker and therapeutic antibodies and proteins. You will also contribute to technology development and create innovative methodologies to enhance existing platforms.
Flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques and an ability and desire to learn from the scientific literature is preferred.
Work independently and be able to solve problems. Be self-motivated while able to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
B.S./B.A. in Biological Sciences with 2 + years relevant research experience in biological research, preferably in biotech/biopharm.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
Strong skills in molecular biology and/or biochemical techniques are required. (e.g., DNA and protein analytical techniques, such as PCR, cloning, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, enzyme assays, receptor binding assays etc.).
Experience with tissue culture is highly preferred.
Strong technical, organization, documentation, and communication skills (verbal and written) are essential. Must be able track on-going projects, present data, and prepare reports.
Experience with antibody/protein engineering; experience with bacteriophage-based library screening and expression is highly desired.
Experience with transfections, stable cell line development retroviral transduction is a strong plus
