Responsibilities:

Purpose

  • The primary role of the Associate Director, Alliance Project Management is to be accountable for supervisory and people development responsibilities for (Sr.) Alliance Project Management team, managing alliance portfolio and improving alliance project management process.Start to work from contract signed and mainly forcus on clinical development/drug development in the alliance projects. The overall responsibilities as below:

  • Supervisory and people development for (Sr.) Alliance Project Management team.

  • Alliance portfolio management: including working with China TA portfolio Management Associate Director to integrate alliance portfolio into Lilly entire TA portfolio.

  • Build up and improve clinical development process in alliance projects: including interface with Lilly internal process and align with relevant corporate policies, processes and priorities to ensure alliance projects delivery.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership within/out of PM function to drive Project Management excellent performance and the continual process improvement.

Supervisory and people development for (Sr.) Alliance Project Management team.

  • Recruits, develops and retains a diverse and capable workforce,

  • Accountable for alliance project management headcount and budgets (e.g. travel, training, supplies etc.) to support Director, Portfolio Management as a whole headcount/budget management.

  • Leads Performance Management process for reporting staff members, provides input into salary/compensation administration, talent assessment, and succession planning discussions for reporting staff members,

  • Ensure staff are highly trained in the three focus areas: Drug Development Expertise, PM Skills and Cross-Functional Leadership.

  • Holds individuals accountable for their performance management objectives; ensure direct reports adhere to current policies and procedures and training requirements; promote application and consistency in using approved processes that will aid in meeting departmental and component objectives

  • Create an environment that fosters and encourages thoughtful and informed decision making as well as cooperation, mutual respect and empowerment across the organization managed

  • Seek opportunities to reward and recognize individuals; hold staff accountable to share any new learning

  • Drive reviews and updates of curriculum maps and job descriptions as appropriate

  • Model behaviors and establish an environment where performance and business results are valued and where individuals are learning and growing developmentally

Alliance portfolio management: including working with China TA portfolio Associate Director to integrate alliance portfolio into Lilly entire TA portfolio.

  • Play as the communication hub between China TA portfolio Associate Director, Lilly Sr. leadership and across various functions to ensure alliance portfolio in alignment with corporate and China TA strategies and portfolios.

Build up and improve clinical development process in alliance projects: including interface with Lilly internal process and align with relevant corporate policies, processes and priorities to ensure alliance projects delivery.

  • Serve as process and/or subject matter expert for project management and drug development to identify and corporate best practice into future iterations of processes, tools. Provide relevant trainings and guidance to alliance management team from technical perspective to ensure alliance projects delivery on time and with quality.

  • Accountable to facilitate joint development committee interactions.

Demonstrate strong leadership within/out of PM function to drive Project Management excellent performance and the continual process improvement.

  • Model the leadership behaviors put forth in the “On Leadership” White Paper as well as the Project Management White Papers.

  • Identify and bring continual process improvement to team and function; identify methods to decrease drug development cycle times and cost.

  • Drive retrospective project/process review meetings (i.e. after action reviews) to identify issues and strengths and help capture learning.

  • Creates an environment that encourages intelligent risk taking and fosters a winning culture within the team.

  • Build winning team culture in TA core team and project teams

  • Contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and mentoring. Supports the growth of project management expertise in Lilly China.

  • Reaches agreement with supervisor on the alignment of performance and development objectives with the goals and objectives of the department and the corporate business priorities.

  • Is an ambassador for the Lilly Brand and also TA Brand.

Basic Qualificiations:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a scientific or health-related field.

  • More than 10 years portfolio/project management experience directly related to drug development/clinical development experience with a strong knowledge of regulations and drug development.

  • Familiarity with Lilly’s partnering process.

  • Strong ability to work across functional and geographic boundaries to develop strategies and plans, and deliver results.

  • Able to anticipate change,show flexibility, adjust quickly and effectively to frequent changes and altered priorities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills: clearly and succinctly with different audiences including team members and leadership.

  • Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to manage workload, set personal and team priorities and adjust as needed.

  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to develop effective teamwork between team members with diverse interpersonal styles; able to deliver effective coaching and feedback.

  • Flexibility to adjust quickly and effectively to frequent change and altered priorities.

  • Working or leading experience in Global interaction.

  • Advanced degree (Master, Doctorate, etc.).

  • Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Masters in Project Management or PMP).

  • Experience of people management.

  • Strong computer skills especially in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) and ProChain Scheduler / Enterprise.

  • Strong presentation skills and learning agility.

  • Vast experiences and mature skills in working with team effectiveness diagnostic tools and delivering supporting interventions.

  • Traveling to visit partners is a critical part of the job and a candidate must be willing to spend approximately from 15- 25 % of his/her time away from Lilly.
