Lilly HSE Manager in Alcobendas, Spain

Main purpose and objective of the position:

Manager of Health, Safety and Environment at Lilly Spain including Affiliate, Manufacturing Plant and R&D research centers.


  • University Studies in Health Sciences, Sciences or Engineering complemented with formal training (Master) in Occupational Risk Prevention.

  • Experience in the health and safety department preferably the pharmaceutical industry, or in pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

  • Experience for at least 5 years leading a team.

  • English level C1 or equivalent.

Competence and skills/Previous experience:

  • Interpersonal skills: leadership, strategic vision, change management, active listening, giving constructive feedback, teamwork, communication skills, people development, problem solving.

  • Organizational and strategic planning skills.

  • Technical capacity: good knowledge of Quality, Prevention and Environment, and of business.

  • Management of computer tools.

  • People and Team Management.

  • Excellent communication and relationship/networking skills.

  • Experience in management systems.

Key responsibilities:

The position of Manager of Health, Safety and Environment is a position that must fulfill the following:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs and systems that apply to the different areas of Lilly Spain.

  • Work as a team with the leaders of the Affiliate, Manufacturing Plant and R&D to promote a safety culture aligned with:

  • No one should get hurt working for Lilly ... ever.

  • The Earth is ours; we must protect it and pass it on to future generations

  • The highest standard of Excellence in HSE reflects Lilly's commitment to integrity.

  • Ensure the proper implementation of HSE standards in Lilly Spain.

  • Influence leaders so that they are owners of the HSE programs and the results that are obtained.

  • Act as the first point of contact with both internal and external Auditors.

  • Owning the HSE Plan, ensuring that it contains the appropriate actions according to the needs of each Lilly Spain Area.

  • Act as a representative before the Senior Management of the development of the processes derived from the certification in management systems.
