Key Responsibilities

The Medical Affairs Professional (MAP) is a therapeutically-aligned scientist whose primary role is to represent Medical Affairs in the cross-functional partnership with the brand team to meet both external customer and internal business needs. MAPs also provide key support to the Clinical Research Physician/Scientist (CRP/S) roles.

Core Responsibilities

The activities below are the core responsibilities of a MAP and comprise the majority of their time:

Scientific Expertise

  • For example, serving as a scientific/clinical resource for the brand, contributing to the

creation of medical information deliverables and supporting scientific data disclosures

Customer Support

  • For example, support of Lilly Meetings (Meetings to Promote or to Educate, Scientific Exchange and Consultant) and responding to unsolicited requests from HCPs

Brand Team Support

  • For example, speaker training, sales training, promotional material development/review,

customer insight analysis and other internally-driven projects

Qualification/Requirements

• Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field) required with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience desired. Masters or Bachelors level degree in health sciences (e.g. BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered if 5 or more years clinical, research or industry (medical/scientific role) experience in relevant therapeutic area is present.

• Central based position requires ability to travel up to 60% and work up to 4 to 6 weekends a year.

• Intellectual curiosity about the field of science/medicine for which they are responsible.

• Learning agility to comprehend and effectively communicate large amounts of complex scientific content in a clear and concise fashion.

• Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification.

• Effective strategic and critical thinking in order to analyse, assess and evaluate information and interpret impact or relevance to future states.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Resiliency in managing complex challenges.

• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence and the ability to engage in professional relationship building and networking.

Additional Preferences

• Experience in servicing customer needs for complex information.

• Significant experience in professional networking with mutally benefical outcomes.

• Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education process highly valued.
