The role of Business Analyst provides leadership and direction on IT initiatives designed to reach desired business outcomes. Key responsibilities include: managing the portfolio of information requests, applying EDP strategies to Lilly information systems and processes, crafting and implementing technical design from business requirements, performing impact analyses across applications, analyzing future project ideas, consulting with testers and developers to creatively brainstorm and right-size effective solutions, and providing technical expertise for successful execution of projects.

  • Engages with business and proactively seeks opportunities to deliver business value.

  • Understands business requirements and effectively translates business needs and process into technical terms, and vice versa

  • Elicits and defines requirements

  • Ensures appropriate business roles are engaged in solution execution.

  • Participates in design reviews to ensure traceability of requirements.

  • Networks with appropriate IT colleagues to determine solutions to meet business partners’ needs.

  • Seeks opportunities to reuse existing processes and services to streamline support and implementation of key systems.

Portfolio Management

  • Manages the request intake process.

  • Communicatesrequest portfolio status to multiple audiences, including all levels of management.

  • Facilitates status meetings and issues management.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems or equivalent work experience 

  • Experience with software development from project initiation to deployment, support, and retirement 

  • Experience with defining services for new capabilities 

  • Knowledge of and experience with system integration, architecture and database design. 

  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services or similar Cloud platform 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage multiple priorities 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities 

  • Demonstrated skills in partnering with others, including interpersonal skills, communications (esp. listening), business influence, and the ability to have crucial conversations 

Preferred Qualifications / Certifications

  • Experience working in regulated environments and with internal systems quality policies and procedures 

  • Certification in ITIL processes 

  • Previous experience in an application services center of excellence or central support team 

  • Understands the complexities of the data model associated with clinical trial design, planning and execution processes, as well as other critical business processes across the MDU 

  • Knowledge of the data architectures associated with information integration, data visualization, & data warehousing
