Lilly International Business Unit Solution Services (IBU SS) is accountable for “Delivery” and “Operational" Excellence of the application portfolio and services consumed by the commercial affiliates within the geography. Working across 120+ countries, IBU SS delivers multi-channel, digital, web, mobile, productivity and analytics services and solutions; supports the operations of the multi-channel content (marketing tactics production) and provides service management (support) to those services through a diverse and high-performing team located across 19 countries.
The IBU Solution Services Systems Engineer is responsible for the “Technical Excellence” of the application and service portfolio for Lilly International. Technical Excellence is defined as the ability to foresee and eliminate an issue before it has the potential to jeopardize security, schedule, budget, sustainability, and most importantly, client satisfaction.
Provides technical direction and consultancy to IBU Solution Services in close partnership with IBU Solution Services Architects to ensure the delivery of IT solutions is aligned with Enterprise IT architecture.
Creates and reviews data acquisition, data preparation and data publishing designs to leverage existing standards, to stimulate re-use, to evaluate alternative technologies and to build a cost-effective solution.
Implements solutions following the agreed data architecture and design.
Collaborates with External Service Providers and IBU Service Management to prioritize and resolve incidents for IT systems and perform problem management to ensure resolution of root causes.
Develops a deep expertise on platforms/technologies used by IBU Solution Services to assist system custodians with life cycle management or complex changes.
Reviews quotations provided by External Service Providers and challenges if needed.
Reviews source code provided by External Service Providers.
Ensures coding standards or technical implementation guides are in place for standard IBU platforms or technologies and educate External Service Providers to ensure they are followed.
Actively contribute to IBU Solution Services DevOps to improve the quality, security and stability of our solutions.
Identifies and drives proof of concepts for emerging technologies at Lilly and helps the IBU Solution Services team prepare for the adoption of these technologies.
7+ years of IT experience
2-5 years of experience in the core tools used by the solution services team (e.g. AWS tools for data storage, data preparation and data movement; GitHub)
Experience with AWS AppFlow, AWS Code Pipeline/Build/Deploy, AWS CloudFormation CI/CD, DevOps, Kinesis and Spark
Expertise with S3, Glue, Lambda, Python, Aurora Postgress DB, Athena
Expertise with analytics and business intelligence solutions (QuickSight or PowerBI)
Experience with Data Preparation / data wrangling (e.g., Trifacta or Glue Databrew)
Working with multiple internal IT organizations or external suppliers, virtually and across different geographies.
Experience in working in Scrum - agile methodologies, coding standards, programming, code reviews, source management (GITHUB), build processes and Jira.
Experience with Incident and Problem management processes, tools and techniques
Good learning ability regarding technologies and business processes.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, collaboration and teamwork.
Strong communication written and verbal.
Self-motivated to prioritise and complete multiple tasks without direct supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills.
Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Ability to resolve issues across geographical and cultural boundaries.
In depth knowledge of one or more Lilly application areas and/or business areas is desirable.
Evidence of creativity, pro activity and influencing skills.
English, fluent - oral & written communication. An additional language is an advantage.
