Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the design and management of engineering projects for the Lilly NJ Facilities or support of senior engineers involved in project management.

The duties include overseeing engineering projects and upgrades to the existing facilities. Responsibilities include preparing equipment and/or construction specifications, drawings, scopes of work and estimates in order to submit bid packages to qualified contractors and monitoring the construction.

This position will manage project activities to ensure that project scope, budget and schedules are maintained.

Projects will involve facility renovations and construction, site work, structural modifications and fire protection systems. Responsibilities also include preparing the appropriate change control documentation prior to making changes on validated systems. The Plant Engineer will also act as the site SME for building code reviews and analyses. This position will also be the site liaison with local Township officials

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Manage for Results /Strategic Planning:

  • Oversight of engineering projects and upgrades to the existing facilities. Manage engineering projects with respect to facilities, equipment and systems for existing buildings. Preparation of capital project approval documentation. Coordination of capital project tracking with Finance Department. Preparation of construction, equipment and service bid packages.

  • Perform construction management to ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule and within established budgetary goals. Prepare appropriate change control documentation as required for modifications to qualified systems. Provide technical and troubleshooting support to the Facilities, Manufacturing and Laboratory Departments as required.

  • Prepare and review preventative maintenance procedures on equipment and systems. Schedule and coordinate shutdowns, as necessary for project work. Prepare and review operational SOP’s. Support building codes reviews and analyses.

  • Act as the liaison between local officials, insurance carrier

Basic Requirements:

  • B.S. Civil Engineering, preferred.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology engineering functions.

  • Technical knowledge of building envelope design and construction, site work and other features present in an industrial campus setting.

  • Knowledge of building codes.

Additional Preferences:

  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus.

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Project or other project scheduling software.

  • Ability to work as a team leader to execute multi-disciplined projects.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Other Information:

  • Minimal travel required.

  • Lifting not required.
