Responsibilities:

This position is primarily responsible for the overall maintenance of a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility (excluding the Utility Room) and its associated production and production support equipment. The incumbent will plan, prioritize, and direct daily work assignments while taking ownership for the overall maintenance and PM / WO program for the BB50 Manufacturing Facility including the operation of the Building Management System and the facility’s HVAC systems. Ensure the building and its operations always remain in compliance with cGMP’s, safety, and OSHA requirements. The Supervisor will provide technical guidance and direction to department personnel on troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and associated facility support equipment. The Individual is also responsible for the timely review and approval of work order records, including submitting weekly status updates on overdue events to management

This position will work in conjunction with Maintenance, Engineering, Validation, Manufacturing, and Quality Control Laboratory departments to help the company and all of its personnel to reach their goals in providing a safe, clean, and efficient environment.

Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Associate Director for Facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Makes daily operational decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plan that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of own work unit.

  • Able to influence peers and direct management.

  • Solve day-to-day operational and technical problems; confers with manager to address more complex problems.

  • Accountable for the performance of the assigned work unit

  • Work within budgetary and financial objectives set by next-level of management.

  • Develop plans to meet short-term objectives with a time horizon of up to three months

  • Coordinate troubleshooting emergency actvities as they occur in the BB50 Manufacturing areas. In order to accomplish this, the individual must be knowledgeable and understand aspects of equipment operation.

  • Monitor Building Management System and provide direction to all Maintenance Technicians regarding the reporting and documentation of critical and non-critical alarms.

  • Oversee technician review/redline of Manufacturing equipment job plans for accuracy and completeness and update as required.

  • Work with Planner/Sceduler to ensure all scheduled PM’s are issued and completed each month on time.

  • Provide proper man hour utilization of Maintenance Technicians to level workload and minimize overtime, while ensuring all PM’s and WO’s are completed as scheduled. Supervise the Facilities Technicians in performing and completing all PM’s and WO’s in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Manage backlog through routine review and closure of work order and preventative maintenance documents.

  • Work with Quality Assurance to review critical work order and preventative maintenance documents

  • Monitor overall job environmental, health and safety aspects and understands the risks and liabilities associated with various FUME activities.

  • Must be able to recognize hazard conditions and ensure the appropriate work place safety measures and appropriate personal protective equipment are worn to suit the work environment.

  • Coordinate and maintain Off-hour emergency response for the Maintenance Technicians

Basic Qualificiations:

  • Bachelors of Science in a technical field, minimum 1 year supervisory experience in maintenance with a minimum of 3 years of hands on maintenance experience in an industrial setting

Or

  • A combination of relevant education and experience plus minimum 1 year supervisory experience in maintenance:

  • Trade school requires 7 years hands on maintenance experience in an industrial setting

  • Associate's degree in a technical field requires 5 years of hands on maintenance experience in an industrial setting

Or

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance setting in lieu of the education requirements above and a minimum of 3 years of hands on maintenance experience in an industrial setting

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Requires supervisory skills and technical /process/product knowledge

  • Experience in a cGXP environment preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbally.

  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
