Purpose

You are a member of our Biomedicines Medical Affairs Team and will focus on our Rheumatology portfolio. You will work in close collaboration with the dermatology colleagues as 2 of our Immunology products have both rheumatology and dermatology indications.

Therapeutic domains in Biomedicines are rheumatology, dermatology, gastro-intestinal and neurology.

Specific activities include development and execution of the medical plan, budget management, leading thought leader engagement, identifying data gaps for getting or maintaining product access, training of sales force, contributing in the cross-functional team to the local strategic/tactical plan, scientific input in the reimbursement files.

You are reporting to the Medical Lead.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility is developing, managing budget and executing the medical plan of marketed products in rheumatology (Olumiant, Taltz). You take the lead in Thought Leader Engagement and local scientific data dissemination (presenting at locally Lilly organized meetings, independent national/regional conferences and hospital staff meetings).

You also provide expert medical support to all aspects of the local business, to ultimately enhance the customers' experience in interacting with the company, contribute to the development and review of promotional material, training of the sales force and medical support for reimbursement and access (PRA).

Beyond your responsibility within rheumatology, you will foster collaboration and productivity between the rheumato/dermato/gastro teams.

You serve as therapeutic expert for the local team implementing the global clinical phase I-III trials.

  • In depth product knowledge and knowledge of therapeutic area and the treatment armamentarium

  • Understand and anticipate the scientific information needs of all local/regional customers

  • Contribute to the development of medical strategies to support brand commercialization activities by working closely with the global Medical Affairs and Brand teams, Global Patient Outcomes/Real World Evidence and global PRA, clinical management or personnel and other cross-functional management during the development of the local business plan

  • Contribute as a medical expert to activities and deliverables of the PRA organization and defend the product value

  • Contribute actively on an ongoing basis to the strategic planning for currently marketed brands

  • By offering scientific and creative input, contribute to the development, review, and approval of promotional materials for the brand team

  • Support training of sales representatives, and other medical representatives

  • Become familiar with market evolution and potential influence on the medical interventions for the product

  1. Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange
  • Knowledge of and compliance with local laws and global policies with respect to data dissemination and interactions with external health care professionals

  • Address the unsolicited scientific information needs of HCPs (if they cannot be answered by medinfo service)

  • Data sharing and contribution to educational meetings by providing topics/content, do the speaker briefings or being a speaker

  • Organize advisory board meetings

  • Development of slide sets and publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts)

  • Establish and maintain appropriate collaborations and relationships with scientific experts and thought leaders

  • Develop and maintain appropriate collaborations and relationships with relevant professional societies

  • Provide congress support (for example, availability to answer questions at exhibits, provide oral and poster presentations, staff medical booth, meet thought leaders, and participate in customer events)

  • Review strategic alignment of local Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) proposals and guide in submission of the proposal

  • Identify data gaps and generate RWE for getting or maintaining local access

  • Review of local labeling in collaboration with regulatory affairs

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of local label

  1. Scientific/Technical Expertise and continued development
  • Be aware of current trends and projections for clinical practice and access in the therapeutic area(s) relevant to the product, both near term (1-2 years) and longer-term (3-5 years).

  • Critically read and evaluate the relevant medical literature; know the status and data from competitive products, and keep updated with medical and other scientific developments relevant to the product

  • Attend, contribute and participate in medical congresses/scientific symposia

  • Medical leadership to foster collaboration and optimize productivity between the immuno teams

  • Preparation and follow-up of the local medical immunology budget, in collaboration with the colleagues of the other teams

  • Actively set and meet individual professional development goals and contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and feedback to co-workers

  • Participate in local and international internal initiatives and pharma.be task forces

  • Model the leadership behaviors

  • Be an ambassador of both patients and the Lilly Brand

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Degree as Medical Doctor

  • Medical affairs experience

  • Expertise and network in immunology, rheumatology or dermatology would be an advantage

  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch

  • Expertise in literature identification and evaluation

  • Ability to ‘translate’ scientific data into meaningful and clear content for customer communications and engagement

  • Ability to effectively partner cross-functionally including Marketing and sales, strong leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication, teamwork, project management and pro-activity

  • Ability to work effectively and share information within a team environment

  • Manage high workload including ability to manage and prioritize broad deliverables of a complex nature

  • Good presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to balance scientific priorities with business priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others (both cross-functionally and within the function) in order to create a positive working environment

  • Proficiency in computer skills
