Our Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. As part of the newly formed growing team, you will help progress next generation, oligonucleotide therapies and other novel modalities toward clinical development and commercialization.
The Next Generation Therapeutics group, located at the Cambridge Innovation Center, focuses on development of therapies for chronic pain and neurodegenerative disorders. We are seeking a Research Associate with expertise in animal handling and/or dissection skills and basic molecular biology/cell culture. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support rodent DRG collection, cell isolation and maintenance. The preferred candidate would have hands-on experience with culturing neural cell types. Based on the candidate’s interests, he/she may be trained and engaged in supporting cell and molecular biology workflows in the new in vitro state-of-the-art lab.
Perform primary Dorsal Root Ganglia (DRG) isolation and primary neuronal culture, and support the development of in vitro differentiation and the maintenance of iPSC-derived cell types (upon training).
Perform formulation and bioanalytical characterization of oligonucleotide compounds.
Support the development of standard procedures and automated workflows in the lab and maintain accurate and timely reports following Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines.
Support general laboratory maintenance including laboratory equipment and chemical inventory.
Manage interactions with external animal facility to ensure timely tissue preparations.
Assist in setting up and maintaining equipment in our new state of the art in vitro labs.
Be part of the team, as well as work independently.
Basic Qualifications :
- BSc with a minimum of 1 – 3+ years of experience, or MSc in Neuroscience, Cell Biology or related field
Experience with animal handling and/or necropsy techniques
Familiarity with routine cell culture techniques and ability to operate typical laboratory equipment (specifically pipettes, spectrophotometer, centrifuges, microscopes and other laboratory equipment) is preferred
Experience with primary Dorsal Root Ganglia (DRG) isolation, rodent primary neuronal culture or with in vitro iPSC differentiation is strongly preferred
Experience with nucleic acids characterization and/or purification from cells or tissues is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Basic Microsoft skills are required (for example, Word and Excel). Familiarity with LIMS and/or lab automation is a plus.
