The Eli Lilly and Company Global Business Solutions (GBS) Center at Cork was established in July 2010 to provide financial shared services such as Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay, and General Accounting and Global Travel and Meeting services. Since then, the scope of GBS Cork has expanded outside of Finance and into other Business Service functions, Customer Meeting Services, Global HR Data Management, Information and Digital Solutions (IDS), and Medical Information and Clinical Trials support services.

The GBS Center at Cork is building a team aligned with Lilly’s Medicines Development Information and Digital Solutions (MD IDS) organisation. MD IDS is passionate about creating best-in-class, first-in-class medicines in the digital era. We strive to build strategic value through collaborative and creative delivery of strategic tech capabilities
To help meet the increasing demand for Product Delivery capabilities within MD IDS, we are looking to hire a talented software full-stack Engineer. This Engineer will work in close partnership with the functional capability team supporting the Medicines Development – Product Delivery function. The Product Delivery IDS application portfolio contains solutions that are leveraged by our business partners to meet critical business needs for manufacture and inventory management of investigational medicines all of the way to the patient. That portfolio continues to expand with solutions that will deliver value to meet the ever-increasing business demands.
The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting one of the major applications within the Product Delivery portfolio. The engineer will apply his or her skills to analyze customer requirements, propose solutions, develop estimates for implementation effort, and build and unit test those solutions to ensure the needs of our customers and patients are continually met. The Operations and Support work will involve incident management and response, troubleshooting system issues, problem and change management, lifecycle management of the application and its components, and contributing to a suite of periodic tasks that are required to keep the system in a validated state. The split is 75% focus on 'Development/Enhancements' and 25% focus on 'Operations/Support'. Participates in the estimation of activities, owns technical implementation of the tasks, and responsible for the design, build, and unit and integration testing for new and modified features. The Software Engineer will have a keen attention to detail to ensure that good UX (Design Tools) principles are applied, and that application code is implemented to ensure requirements are met with quality.
Responsibilities will also include all operational support activities necessary to maintain the application in a validated state, to keep it up and running, to ensure the lifecycle of the application and all of its components are kept current and secure. This work will include incident management and response, troubleshooting system issues, problem and change management, and executing suite of periodic tasks that are required to keep the system secure and validated.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Technical Science
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Information Technology roles
Strong teamwork, self-management, problem-solving abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills
Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, Powerpoint
Java Development experience
Oracle PL/SQL experience
ITIL Service Management experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized for employment in Ireland
Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with Apache Torque ORM
Experience with Eclipse IDE
Experience with .NET development
Experience with dotConnect for Oracle
Experience with Business Objects reports design and build
Node.js with Typescript and Postgres experience.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (s3, API Gateway, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda, ec2, SQS, SNS, StepFunctions, Elastic Search). CloudFormation, AWS CodePipeline and Codebuild.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, RDS Serverless, DynamoDB.
Understanding of bash scripting
Creating cross-browser, global and multi-devices experiences
Awareness of foundational UX/UI design principles, trends, and tools such as Sketch, InVision, or Adobe Creative Suite and experience consuming high-fidelity designs from UX designers
Driving data-driven user testing and UX testing
Experience with Contentful or other relevant content infrastructure systems
