Lilly Automation Systems Engineer in Durham, North Carolina

The Automation Systems Administrator will enable information and data flow between Manufacturing Science, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations by leveraging IT and Process Automation Technologies. This role will support innovation evaluation and application for Manufacturing Process Automation and IT Systems with a focus on Rockwell based FactoryTalk View HMI/SCADA Platforms, Lilly’s OT/IT integration layer, data integrity and end-point cyber security solutions.

Partner with Corporate Automation, Automation Integrators, and Global Facilities delivery to design, install, and qualify the site Rockwell based FactoryTalk View HMI/SCADA Platforms, Lilly’s OT/IT integration layer, and end-point cyber security solutions
Global Application Management – own and support global automation/IT applications centrally and manage change and new enhancements utilizing best practices and GMP qualification processes
System Administration ownership of these platforms post-delivery including user access controls, life cycle management, process improvements, data management, and system maintenance
Manage and own the system security including data integrity
Perform audits and periodic assessments of the systems to ensure compliance with Global Quality and Engineering Standards
Lead the management and growth of the platforms and support of manufacturing process teams as new systems are added to the facility
Partner with Corporate Automation, Information Technology, and Information Security for global initiatives and life cycle management
Be a champion for site safety activities, diversity/inclusion, ethics, and compliance
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Minimum 2 years’ experience in process automation (OT) engineering and data integration (e.g. data historians, MES integration, enterprise level applications, and data integrity)
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Expertise in Lilly’s preferred platforms, including Rockwell Automation PLC’s, FactoryTalk View SE and other related automation technologies
Experience in ISA S95 principles and IT/Automation integration
Experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP industry
Experience working with validated systems
Experience in managing OT platforms
Experience in Microsoft operating systems, virtual environments, and networking
Communicate effectively with internal customers, business partners, and leadership including written and visual presentations
Additional Information:
This position will be based out of our Research Triangle Park (Raleigh area), North Carolina plant; however, business travel may be required to Indianapolis, Indiana and other Lilly locations as well as attending technical training and factory acceptance testing.
Schedule - 8-hour days - Monday through Friday, overtime and some weekend/holiday may be required for support
Travel - Domestic and International travel may be required (10%)
