The Director for Elanco Technical Services/Manufacturing Science is responsible for providing technical and strategic leadership for Elanco’s TS/MS function. This Network Director role is accountable for all technical product and process support activities for Elanco’s vaccines sites (Fort Dodge, Cuxhaven, PEI, and Winslow). Additionally, this role is accountable for the TS/MS Commercialization---working with Elanco vaccines R&D. There is flexibility in the geographic location of this role
Elanco Vaccine Manufacturing Sites – Ongoing Operations. Responsibilities include: a) ensuring that products and processes at the vaccine sites are in control, capable, compliant and continuously improving (C4I), b) ensuring that the vaccine sites meet the Global Quality and Manufacturing Standards and have the right technical capability in place. Vaccine sites covered by this role are Fort Dodge, Cuxhaven, PEI, and Winslow. The network TS Director is responsible for ensuring that the right TS functional capability is in place at each of the sites.
Elanco vaccine manufacturing technical transfers. The Director is accountable for ensuring that tech transfers are accomplished on time and with robust manufacturing control strategies implemented at the new site.
Elanco’s TS/MS Vaccine commercialization process as it relates to new products coming from R&D to the manufacturing sites mentioned. Responsibilities include: a) ensuring the robust implementation of the manufacturability review process, and b) ensuring that the right technical capability (TS/MS) is in place for Elanco commercialization activities at the covered sites.
The Director will have accountability to drive the vaccines technical agenda, including implementation of technical productivity initiatives to increase Elanco’s overall gross margin.
Potential Business Development and Acquisitions: Responsibilities include the following: a) assessing technical capabilities / gaps of potential business deals or acquisitions, b) assisting in the development of Quality/Technical and Commercial Agreements, c) reviewing and approving technical transfer plans or other technical elements to do with acquisitions
Experience in a variety of vaccines technologies and platforms is preferred: legacy and newer vaccine technologies, large molecule API protein purification, fermentation technology and sterile filling technology.
Effective communication in multi-cultural settings.
Ability to influence people.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with areas inside and outside of Elanco.
Familiarity with the Lilly/Elanco Global Quality Standards.
Experience in Corporate TS/MS business processes
Domestic and/or International travel required.
No medical sensitivities to Elanco Animal Health products.
Shift: Monday-Friday, normal flexible hours.
Domestic and some International travel required (up to 25%). Directors visit each of their Network’s manufacturing sites and key Contract Manufacturers 1-2 times per year and need to be available for travel to support significant investigations.
There is some flexibility in geographic location for this role.
The title of this role will become Sr. Director in January, 2020, to coincide with the implementation of new Elanco Job Titles.

Advanced Degree (MS, PhD with experience preferred)
