Main Purpose of Position:

The Associate Consultant for New Product Value Analysis is responsible for the Sales Forecasts for Elanco’s pre-approval products. In addition, this associate consultant is expected to be a leader in the application of analytics to develop fact-based and objective sales forecasts. The person in this role will also need to be a strategic consultant for global marketing regarding how to move market share with innovation. Depending on the experience and interests of the candidate, this role may serve as the primary NPVA contact to Business Development and therefore responsible to support all business development projects, especially late stage external innovation, with timely and informative sales forecasts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce forecasts in a timely manner and in collaboration with internal business partners (New Product Planning, Global Marketing Species Teams, Pricing, regions, etc.) and/or external collaborators

  • Partner with the competitive intelligence team, in Innovation Strategy, to ensure that potential competitive entrants are factored into forecasts

  • Develop objective, fact-based sales forecasts that will be critical to inform Elanco’s innovation portfolio decisions

  • Create stochastic models (e.g., Monte Carlo) to quantify uncertainty

  • Conduct scenarios analysis and other analytical exercises, as needed, to develop dynamic sales forecast models

  • Facilitate assessments with project stakeholders to identify market risks and opportunities

  • Drive leaders to cross-functional alignment regarding sales forecast assumptions

  • Communicate sales forecast assumptions with steering teams other global marketing and/or R&D leadership to inform project progress decisions

  • Establish connections with external collaborators to provide forecasts either as a check to our internal forecasts or as extra capacity to complete the work

  • Support the preparation of materials for Decision Points (DP), and provide other ad-hoc support as needed by R&D leadership

  • Continuously enhance the Elanco’s forecasting acumen through the refinement of tools, approaches, and analysis (e.g., partner with colleagues in Global Marketing and the Commercial organization (e.g., country affiliates) to conduct post-launch analysis of forecast vs actual sales)

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in building sales forecasts or a related area such as financial planning

  • Master’s degree in a business (e.g., MBA) or scientific discipline plus 5 years of relevant marketing, strategic planning or financial planning experience

  • Two or more years of sales forecast experience in animal health or human pharmaceuticals

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning and organization skills; Proven ability to work under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to identify and collaborate with key stakeholders across functions

  • Excellent oral and verbal communication and information management skills.

  • Other Animal/Human healthcare experience
