Business Unit Overview:

Elanco has established a new Business Unit to expand the access to and availability of Elanco's innovative Animal medicine and wellness products worldwide. Our products are, and will continue to be, distributed in multiple channels – these include but are not limited to Pet Specialty stores, Brick & Mortar locations, Food/Drug/Mass channels, and other forms of eCommerce. Elanco sits in a unique position with recent developments in the OTV space, namely the announcement of the company’s plan to acquire Bayer Animal Health. The acquisition of this business unit will require increased and dedicated resources to deliver and carry out strategic plays, and both the short and long-term strategies of ACE and greater Elanco.

*Role overview:

The business analyst is responsible for providing business and analytical support to the Animal Care Expansion (ACE) business and retail partners.

Working with the commercial team this individual will independently analyze data from various sources to discover opportunities, develop strategic insights, and create recommendations for Elanco and our retail partners. This individual will use a variety of tools to assess, recommend, and influence strategic plays in an effort to broaden and deepen Elanco’s footprint in the Animal Health industry. This role is critical to understanding market dynamics, industry influences, and trends within this space to drive for the achievement of sales metrics, organizational KPIs, and also provide justification for business decisions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide analytics support to the Animal Care Expansion (ACE) business – ACE BU leader, heads of accounts, key account managers, marketing leaders, and Elanco leadership team

  • Analyze data from multiple internal and external sources to discover opportunities and develop strategic insights

  • Create analytics tracking requirements and supporting documentation through score cards, company reports, and strategic rationale reports

  • Measure ROI of promotions and trade funds, providing hypotheticals and multiple scenarios

  • Consolidate data and insights across multiple data sources and analytical platforms

  • Deliver accurate and effective presentations to project teams and business leaders

  • Assist with the development of reports and dashboards for monthly forecasting processes at a customer and business unit level

  • Assist with the development of presentations for retail partners on market trends and Elanco brand performance

Basic Qualificiations:

  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA Preferred

  • 2 years’ experience in business analytics or equivalent experience through coursework, certifications, etc

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Previous experience working with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, etc.) preferred

  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem solving skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead and influence others, especially under pressure and despite opposition

  • Strong presentation and delivery skills with propensity to display data in easy-to-digest methods and translatable terms

  • Solid understanding of accounting and proficiency with SAP

  • Planning/Forecasting/Reporting experience

  • Strong computer skills, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Experience with data modeling software preferred
