Responsibilities:

  • Core Responsibility : This role is responsible for improving process effectiveness at Elanco R&D & Regulatory. The core responsibility is to map out current processes, identify gaps, propose future streamlined processes, and drive change in order to improve the overall effectiveness of the R&D & Regulatory function. Background Knowledge and Understanding : A holistic understanding of the variety of activities conducted in R&D & Regulatory, including understanding the type of data/information needed to execute work, is required. This role will also involve working with R&D IT and Quality in order to embed the agreed processes and quality controls into our systems. Skills and Personality: This role requires the jobholder to collaborate with functional leaders and productivity work-stream owners, consult, advise and influence them to enable effective delivery of business results. Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority/control is a critical required skill.

  • Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive process improvement and effectiveness projects in R&D & Regulatory by mapping, optimizing, communicating, and driving change that enable R&D & Regulatory functions to be more effective.

  • Apply Operations tools and techniques to define the problems, assess options, and design solutions.

  • Communication, change management and stakeholder management to ensure successful adoption of new processes, behaviors, and tools (if any).

  • Key Leadership Responsibilities and Behavioral Attributes:

  • Partner with and influence other R&D and Regulatory functional leaders and productivity work-stream owners to drive results at a holistic, R&D-wide level, as well as collaborate with other support functions, such as Quality, IT etc.

  • Provide a scientist/process-user perspective on the “what and how” to optimize R&D processes. Work closely with the Advisor – R&D Strategy and Operations who will provide a business perspective on the same.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to influence and lead peers without formal authority. Able to connect with colleagues across different levels of the organization and international locations (mainly USA, Continental Europe, and Australia). Work with the Advisor – R&D Strategy and Operations to implement communications plan.

  • Demonstrate persistence, intellectual curiosity and rigor, and flexibility in order to accomplish a variety of tasks and projects.

  • In-house and/or consulting experience working in medium-size human pharmaceutical companies and/or large-size animal health companies.

  • Preference for Six Sigma experience, green or black belt.

  • Creativity, open mind, collaborative.

  • Good awareness of IT and Quality systems.

  • Good understanding of R&D processes. Ability to translate that into systems, procedures, desired behavior and culture.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning and organization skills; Ability to balance the needs of different stakeholders and deliver a holistic solution that works for R&D and Regulatory as a whole. Influence without formal control.

Additional Information:

  • This position can be done in Greenfield, Indiana or Basel, Switzerland

  • International travel required (10-20%), depending on nature and scope of project.
