Lilly Postdoctoral Research Scientist-FDE in Greenfield, Indiana
The Post-Doctoral Scientist is responsible for conducting basic and applied research as an individual contributor in the biopharmaceutical formulation and vaccine development groups. The primary research project will involve establishing a correlation between biophysical characteristic and properties of biopharmaceutical (proteins, antibodies, peptides and vaccines) and their stability under different formulation and conditions. A strong foundation in biophysical characterization techniques and biochemistry will be required to proactively search for solutions in this discovery driven team. The ability to independently conceptualize and execute experiments, coupled with a “can do” attitude, is essential.
Design and execute different biophysical characterization experiment including but not limited to Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Fluorimetry (DSC and DSF), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Capillary Electrophoresis and/or other techniques.
Design and blend different formulations used in biopharmaceuticals (proteins, antibodies, peptides and vaccines).
Execute experimental protocols as written; obtain data; improve methods as necessary; and perform accelerated formulation stability in parallel.
Write and co-author original and review article.
Ability to analyze data and establish correlations between biophysical properties and stability of biopharmaceutical in different formulation.
Participate in cross-functional research teams and effectively collaborate with other functional groups in the organization
Enable the timely progression of research projects through the practical application of scientific expertise which may include planning, protocol creation, hands-on laboratory work
Keep abreast of relevant scientific literature/new technologies /capabilities.
Proactively search for novel technologies or product opportunities and establish collaborations and research programs to deliver innovative technical solutions.
Demonstrates proficiency at data reporting, interpretation, and trending.
Demonstrates good documentation skills with regard to raw data recording and protocol authoring
Broad knowledge of Biophysical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Protein characterization and stability.
Knowledge of protein purification and formulations.
Knowledge of vaccine formulation is a plus.
