Elanco is establishing a new Business Unit to expand the access to and availability of Elanco's innovative Animal medicine and wellness products worldwide. Our products are, and will be, distributed in multiple channels.

The Key Account Manager is responsible for the development of sales and promotional strategies that align with category and brand strategies, and the implementation of these strategies within nominated key accounts and channels in the US.

Success in this role involves the development and maintenance of commercial relationships amongst high value, key accounts and across multiple internal functional teams whilst achieving forecast sales and profit targets.


  • Own the relationship with Elanco and your nominated key account and be the interface between your key account and internal Elanco resources

  • Provide accurate rolling sales forecasts for supply chain and budgetary purposes

  • Assist with the preparation of contractual agreements and responsible for commercial and trading terms negotiations

  • Negotiate ranging of the Elanco portfolio within your key account

  • Plan and execute bi-annual Joint Business Planning sessions with key accounts

  • Work with internal and external resources plan and execute promotional activity within your Key Account to maximise net-sales

  • Provide detailed reports outlining activity and sales results within your key accounts to communicate to internal stakeholders

  • Evaluate and document channel partnerships, ensuring all activity is recorded accurately

  • Act as the key interface between the customer and all relevant divisions

Basic Qualificiations:

  • Bachelors degree

  • 5 years experience in sales and/or marketing with at least 1 year experience in key acct mgmt. position

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • A proven history in key account management positions, preferably in a consumer goods environment

  • Good knowledge of the Companion Animal marketplace and retailers

  • Proven selling skills

  • Strong negotiation and planning skills

  • Capability to influence both internal and external stakeholders

  • A strong commercial skill set that can be used to identify potential business opportunities and issues

  • Strong learning agility

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop strategies and tactics and measure ROI post implementation

  • Proficiency with Windows software suites

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Desire to commit to professional and personal development in self and others

  • Natural curiosity, willingness and ability to learn and courage to drive for results
