Advisor – Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A), is responsible for helping the commercial BU teams make data-driven decisions and is accountable for the execution of commercial analytics projects. The Advisor – BI&A reports to the Senior Director – Business Insights & Analytics.

Responsibilities :

  • Act as the single point of contact for all analytics needs within the business unit within Lilly USA

  • Translate analytics outcomes into actionable business insights and recommendations in the service of business objectives and results

  • Ensure business decisions are made with solid supporting evidence grounded in analytics

  • Facilitate the broad spectrum of analytics needed by the BU (inception to insights), from descriptive to advanced analytics

  • Provide end to end oversight and responsibility for use case implementation by partnering across AADS and IDS to deliver on project goals, while providing project management as needed

  • Influence brand leads and help determine brand strategy through the appropriate adoption of advanced analytics techniques and solutions

  • Foster analytics innovation for the BU by sourcing innovative analytics concepts from AADS and other functions in the organization

  • Enable the overall analytics portfolio for the BU by bringing the appropriate technical personnel and leadership to the table

  • Manage a wide variety of senior stakeholders and junior colleagues as a part of a highly matrixed organization

  • Become the champion for advanced analytics in the BU. Serve as a liaison between the BU and AADS to identify opportunities for further application of Advanced Analytics use cases

  • Prioritize analytics tasks and make trade-off decisions to maximize business outcomes for Lilly holistically

  • Efficiently deploy analytics resources and manage horizontally and upward

  • Develop a pipeline of analytics talent and leadership, and contribute to an inclusive community of analytics expert practitioners

BU strategy and analytics interface (40%)

  • Articulate analytics proposition to business stakeholders and conducts diagnostics to identify novel use case opportunities

  • Participate in developing the BU strategy and foster data-driven decision-making

  • Collaborate with your counterparts across BUs and analytic teams to develop a unified analytics vision and roadmap for omnichannel engagement analytics

  • Translate business problems into a clear analytics workplan with appropriate analytics solutions for execution that will meaningfully drive results

  • Translate analytics needs into technical requirements for BI and data engineering specialists

  • Translate analytics outcomes into business insights to guide business decisions

  • Use dashboard tools to provide analytics expertise and champion teaching the brands how to use the tools to derive insights in real time

  • Partner with Advanced Analytics experts to present complex models and technical processes in an easily digestible format and create organizational buy-in for recommendations

  • Ensure consistent analytics choices, data definitions, and business rules for all analytics models within the BU and across the BUs

  • Develop a deep understanding of business goals and challenges and associated TA-specific knowledge

Analytics execution (50%)

  • Provides input on business impacts, biases, and trade-offs between types of advanced analytics models and tools and supports analytics team in validating assumptions and interpreting models and outputs

  • Orchestrates and coordinates a multi-functional team to efficiently triage analytics requests (e.g., outsourced vs. advanced analytics vs. LCCI) and help prioritize analytics backlog

  • Maintain the omnichannel orchestration engine and ensure consistent support and execution, including models, inputs, and recommendations. Will occasionally be required to assist in updating and developing new models

  • Facilitate the cooperation, discussion and execution between AADS, BI&A data team and IDS for the building and deploying of consistent datasets for analysis

  • Own the Marketing Mix/ROI optimization process and drive marketing content development strategy for all brands using generated insights

  • Facilitate application of advanced analytics to develop customer segmentation models to drive more personalized experiences for HCPs

  • Build and maintain testing frameworks and embed a testing culture that rapidly tests, measures, and iterates on marketing content

  • Build and understand the customer journey, pain points, and drivers of behavior

  • Efficiently leverage LCCI analytics resources to speed up delivery of insights and provide dotted-line supervision and project oversight

  • Supervise, steward and own 3rd party analytics vendor engagement strategy and spend

  • Drive innovative use cases and collection/use of first party data in a compliant way (e.g., generating first party insights for HCPs and patients) in partnership with the Data Strategy and Governance team with BI&A

  • Collaborates with data privacy lead to understand privacy and legal requirements for 3rd party data use and retains ultimate accountability for following the appropriate guidelines and procedures

Knowledge/capability building (10%)

  • Assess and identify new data/sources and capabilities in partnership with the BU

  • Codify analytics processes, datasets, and TA specific protocols into best practices to be shared with other analytics colleagues and BUs

  • Translate analytics technology needs to the data strategy and governance team and IDS

  • Collaborate with the BI & reporting team to prioritize and develop self-serve dashboards and automated reports

  • Leverage organizational resources to mentor and educate brand team leads to increase analytics and data fluency

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience leading an analytical function

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Skills:

  • Quantitative background in engineering, statistics, mathematics, sciences, finance, or related

  • Strong analytical skills coupled with business acumen, and an ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment

  • Ability to query relational datasets using SQL

  • Experience using common data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and visualization packages and frameworks (e.g., Seaborn, Plotly, Flask, RShiny)

  • Broad awareness and working knowledge of advanced analytics areas such AI. ML, NLP and Predictive Analytics

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate advanced analytics concepts to a variety of business stakeholders

  • Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal influencing skills and prioritization skills with attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change with senior stakeholders at the Sr. Director and VP levels

  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus

  • Working knowledge of statistical programming packages (e.g., R, SAS, Python, MATLAB) and types of predictive models a plus

  • Strong track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver and delivering complex cross functional projects

  • Substantial analytics experience and understanding of complexities in specialty markets, analytics techniques and US pharmaceutical business

  • Experience working with common US healthcare datasets a plus

  • Proven ability to rally resources to achieve project and business results

  • High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations

  • Demonstrated ability to enforce business rules and policies in a constructive but disciplined manner

  • 10 - 20% travel depending on business need
