Reports To: BU Information Officer (and also member of the BU IDS LT)

Position Description: The Information Security BU Advisor position supports the Information Security organization by integrating information security and risk principles into the technologies and business processes that. The IS BU Advisor acts as the information security representative in the BU and acts to ensure that business and technology initiatives demonstrate a responsible, information security posture and risk-based approach to managing information security risks. The Information Security BU Advisor acts as the BU’s information security subject matter expert and consultant responsible for representing the uniqueness of the BU. The Advisor will partner with IS and the BU to strategically prioritize and manage information security matters based on risk. The major IS responsibilities include:

Strategic & Governance

  • Partner with IS org on the creation and approval of the annual BU IS scorecard and roadmap.

  • On-going development, oversight and management of the BU IS scorecard and roadmap.

  • Ensuring appropriate IS transparency and visibility of the information security efforts and the overall risk profile of the BU.

  • Providing BUs with the appropriate transparency and visibility of the IS roadmap and efforts.

  • Integrating and operationalizing information security risk management practices into BU strategies and operations.

  • Managing the BU’s information security portfolio of activities, projects, and efforts.

  • Partnering with IS and the BU to strategically prioritize and manage information security matters based on risk.

Tactical & Execution

  • Supporting BU information security assessments and audits

  • Supporting the information security education and development of the BU staffMaintaining the BU’s information security scorecard, and risk profiles

  • Supporting and representing the BU in security incident management activities

  • Supporting and driving BU IS policies and procedures

  • Participate in monthly Information Security Advisor meetings

  • Representing BU IS roadmaps during IS business planning

  • Representing IS roadmaps during BU business planning

  • Supporting BU leadership on data classification, proxy exception, control exceptions, protect Lilly

Leadership & Technical Skills

  • Influence, Educate and Drive Behavior Change.

  • Coaching within a matrix organization (up, down, across)

  • Shared resource management

  • Ability to identify and assess IS risk

  • Manage business, IS and IT relationships

  • Educating leaders and acting as escalation points as BU leaders conduct and approve classifications, collaboration site reviews, proxy exceptions and risk acceptances or exceptions

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a discipline related to information security

  • 3-5 years of IT experience

  • 3-5 years of Information Security experience

  • 1-3 years of risk management experience

  • CISSP, CRISC, CISM or similar certification within one year of start

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with all audiences and forums through exemplary oral and written communication skills

  • Good working knowledge of IDS global/regional solutions and evolving technologies and their application

  • Organizational Change Management with experience helping move organization through major changes

  • Ability to influence change including VP level
