We are seeking a highly motivated Test Method Engineer to enable robust testing methods for delivery devices. You will work on dynamic teams and be responsible in part for designing and developing mechanical fixtures/jigs for use in development, design verification and release testing as wells to conduct source code reviews for test system programs. You will be responsible for the daily oversight and management of performance of device and primary packaging components. You should be well versed in both standard ASTM/ISO testing of materials, as well as customized testing to interrogate the performance of complex engineering constructs.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for overall technical soundness and compliance status of the testing programs and methods in DDCS to enable delivery and device system design, development, qualification and validation activities.
Lead team of engineers and scientists of very diverse education/training backgrounds.
Collaborate with management and senior scientific/engineering staff in the component to ensure all testing is providing key information that enables material selection and device performance evaluation for the delivery of medicine to the patient
Ensures that direct reports are in compliance with appropriate quality, HSE and other corporate standards, policies and procedures
Ensure the test methods and characterization efforts being developed are appropriately assessed from a device performance perspective
Direct technical assessments with rigor and standard methodologies utilizing Six Sigma skills and/or statistics
Participate in or guide formal design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analyses using common FMEA or Fault Tree analysis
Ensure resourcing of CM&C teams, regulatory submissions, test method support for engineering studies and investigations, and the transfer of test methods to manufacturing site with sufficient representation
Speak at external conferences and symposia as opportunities present themselves
Publish results in peer-reviewed journals when appropriate
Responsible for supporting existing alliances and developing additional alliances as the business and capability requirements evolve to drive value and on-time delivery
Mechanical engineering degree preferred
Understanding of finite element analysis and the mechanics of solid bodies, and the ability to translate such analyses into meaningful testing strategies
Previous mechanical testing experience
Ability to lead multi-functional teams and to work productively in an interdisciplinary environment
Ability to work with colleagues on root cause analysis to identify component failures
Proficient analytical skills including statistics, DOE, experimental design or Six Sigma
Effective technical writing skills as well as good verbal communication / presentation skills
Successful interaction with senior technical engineering and scientific personnel
Previous experience leading successful lab operations
Experience working in a diverse networked technical organization with validated skills to manager suppliers and alliance partners
Previous pharmaceutical and/or medical device experience.
