Lilly Associate Consultant-Mfg-Finance in Indianapolis, Indiana



Primary areas of responsibility include financial control processes, segments of financial planning, reporting and forecasting, and special projects including support for six sigma efforts and business case analysis. An understanding of core accounting principles is essential for success in this role. The position will be a member of the Parenteral Device Assembly and Packaging (PDAP) Plant Lead Team, serving as key financial business partner for device assembly (Apollo and Reach) and packaging operations.

On a monthly basis the analyst will help ensure that expenses, variances and inventories are accurate and timely in their reporting and that forecasts are accurate representations of expectation of monthly results for the PDAP Plant. Key customers include the operations and support organizations at the manufacturing site and the financial consolidation group in Indianapolis.

Success in the role is dependent on developing an understanding of operations at the site and of the broader business. The financial analyst is expected to bring financial and business perspective to day-to-day operations by interpreting financial data and presenting pertinent information and analysis to influence decision-making. Opportunities to support special projects to improve the business and develop the analyst’s sphere of influence will emerge as the analyst learns the site. Timely and useful metrics along with analyses that promote focus, alignment and accountability for our business partners are key deliverables.

This position also has central function support responsibilities for the TSMS, Logistics/Warehousing, and Global Services functions.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Financial Stewardship - Key involvement in control processes, forecast, closing activities and resulting management reporting, providing analysis and explanation of business partner performance. Assist the financial team in monthly closing activities. Ensure proper internal controls and compliance.

  • Business Partnering - Understand the operations of the site and the key drivers of performance. Demonstrate that understanding in helping business partners make sound resource allocation decisions and evaluate special projects. Influence and guide business partners to meet or exceed their financial commitments through a deep understanding of the business and anticipating needs and risks.

  • Business Planning Activities – Work with the finance team and our business partners in business planning activities including cost center expense planning, developing standard costs, planning absorption and variances, and analysis of results. Learn process of standard costing and variance planning at a manufacturing facility. Provide timely and reliable information with accuracy.

  • Knowledge Sharing - Work with the financial staff at the site and across other manufacturing sites to share key learning and help drive continuous improvement in manufacturing finance.
