Organization Overview
Lilly Immunology Corporate Affairs is a communications team embedded within Lilly Immunology to lead its external and internal communications efforts, working with cross functional partners.
Position Description
The Associate Director, Immunology Corporate Affairs, will be a critical member of the Lilly Immunology communications team. With the potential for multiple product targets and new area expansions in Immunology, this role is crucial in building our presence so we can reach as many patients as possible.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing bold communication strategies to position Lilly Immunology as a leader and ensure our medicines and portfolio stand out. This includes supporting notable external communications announcements and media engagements, including pipeline data communications. You will also support internal communications for Lilly Immunology.
In addition, this role will work closely with an enterprise-wide team to drive alignment on communications strategy and ensure seamless execution. This team includes Global, other TA Corporate Affairs colleagues, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Public Policy, Corporate Digital and Social Media, Employee Communications, as well as Investor Relations, MLR and Commercial, among others.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
The role reports to the Associate Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Lilly Immunology.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate and manage all communication strategies for the Immunology sector to achieve business goals.
Work collectively with cross-functional teams to develop, formalize, and implement comprehensive and bold communications plans and strategies across paid, earned, shared, and owned media
Partner with the Global Communications team on communications strategies, position messaging with corporate narrative, using corporate channels, handling issues with reputational implications for Lilly, and ensuring compliance with all Lilly policies and operational governance
Develop external communications materials to support business priorities, including but not limited to narratives, proactive and reactive messaging and media materials. press releases, standby statements, Q&A, fact sheets, infographics, backgrounders, videos, etc.
Serve as a primary liaison for media interactions related to immunology
Provide media training, communications counsel and mentoring for internal business partners
Support employee engagement and internal communications efforts for the Immunology business, including presentations, emails, videos, leadership messages and town halls
Coordinate effectively with affiliates across regional markets to ensure consistent communications and provide materials, as needed
Provide team support for communications planning and execution for above-brand activations, major milestones, campaigns and media events.
Identify and maintain relationships with internal and external thought-leaders
Partner with and provide direction to external agency partners and vendors, as needed
Track, monitor and report on strategy and tactical results
Assist with other communications projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field
Pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experience and expertise
8+ years of external communications experience

Required Skills/Preferences
Strong understanding and experience developing and implementing bold cross-channel communications strategies (including paid, earned, owned and shared)
Experience crafting and implementing communications strategies and plans for highly sensitive information and crisis communications
Strong background in media relations, including experience working and interacting with reporters
Strong understanding of traditional media landscape and its intersection with paid, social and owned
Experience interacting with and providing appropriate communications counsel and support to senior leaders
Experience collaborating with global and cross-functional teams across a matrixed organization, establishing strong working relationships
Skillful in above brand, franchise leadership and executive communications
Ability to be a flexible teammate, act quickly and meet deadlines with the highest ethical and business standards
Highly organized, entrepreneurial problem solver with the ability to lead and juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with very tight deadlines.
Meticulous and exacting attention to detail, adept at grasping the big picture, and skilled at connecting all the dots in between
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to convey complexity in a simple yet compelling fashion
