The Associate Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Racial Justice Communications will report up through Global Enterprise Communications and partner with the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Office, the Reputation Management communications team and external organizations. This role will work to communicate about initiatives and progress in our people and workplace strategies related to DEI and racial equity. The role will report to the Senior Director, Human Resources and Employee Experience Communications.
Responsibilities:
Amplify Lilly’s diversity, equity and inclusion work to create greater awareness, inclusion and racial equity within our workforce and in the Central Indiana community and beyond.
Develop and implement communications strategies to engage employees, supporting the DEI strategic priorities of empower, elevate, and embed DEI in all that we do.
Source stories and develop communications through internal and external collaborations to highlight Lilly’s DEI efforts.
Identify thought leadership and media opportunities, provide counsel, speech writing, and talking points for DEI senior leaders and executives.
Produce updates for leaders and employees highlighting progress on aspirational goals, racial justice and other DEI priorities.
Produce creative, strategic external communication/storytelling about programs such as the Indiana corporate diversity council, One Ten Coalition, and corporate collaborations related to DEI and racial justice in partnership with the Social Impact and Reputation Management teams.
Solve for Team Lilly - partner with colleagues on the HR Communications and Employee Experience team on other initiatives as needed.
Use data and analytics to track and measure the reach and impact of DEI and Racial Justice communications.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
Seven years or more professional communications experience as a journalist, in PR agency, corporate communications or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
Experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including but not limited to large-scale programming, employee resource group involvement, community activities and/or non-profit board leadership
Experience in executive writing and counsel
Experience with social media and video storytelling
Dedication to form positive relationships with internal and external collaborators
Ability to work independently
Ability to translate strategy to action; able to diagnose business problems and implement solutions
Excellent judgment and a demonstrated ability to influence leaders at all levels
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
