Position Brand Description:

This position supports Plant Engineering in Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing is responsible for maintaining the site’s facility infrastructure including buildings, HVAC, UAF Hoods, GMP utilities, steam, water, sewer and other utility systems to a state of compliance. It must assure that facilities and related infrastructure are fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability techniques are efficient and effective, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary. Plant Engineering is also responsible for the efficient and effective management of local capital for their assets and oversight of engineering/maintenance contract resources.

This role is responsible for setting strategies and objectives for Plant Engineering within Indy Parenteral. Must partner with other leaders to influence and implement the organization’s functional agenda, Business Plan priorities, GMP Plan and HSE Plan objectives for the site; including major projects and shutdowns. Is responsible for employee development, oversight of daily operations, and the support/enforcement of cGMP's, budgets, departmental and corporate procedures, policies, guidelines, and maintenance repairs.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Develop, mentor, coach, and recognize employees within the organization.

  • Develop and implement business plan objectives. Maintain metrics to measure performance against business objectives and make necessary changes to improve performance.

  • Ensure capability needs are met within the Plant Engineering organization.

  • Provide leadership and develop objectives to deliver business plan as it relates to HSE, production, financial (responsible for Parenteral Building Collectors), quality, stewardship, and people.

  • Track team performance in executing and completing objectives.

  • Ensure proper prioritization, resources and tools are in place to execute team objectives.

  • Staff the team with personnel capable of meeting business needs and objectives.

  • Build and drive safety and quality culture within organization.

  • Remove barriers that impact team performance.

  • Provide technical input/support, as required

  • Participates in the development and implementation of strategies associated with the area and will sponsor and support C4I, CAPA, 6 Sigma and Lean implementation within the area.

  • This role has direct interaction with regulatory agencies during site inspections.

  • Responsible for ensuring operations has requisite utilities, facilities and HVAC to maintain customer supply and deliver quality medicine.

  • Lead a cross functional group charged with daily support of Utility and HVAC systems as well as continuous improvement, and site support.

  • Participates in the site master plan activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering or other STEM discipline

  • At least 3 years of engineering experience, some leadership experience strongly preferred

Education Requirements:

  • Recognized strong team leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Technical competence in area of responsibility (typically 5 years experience, or more).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (both oral and written).

  • Strong talent development skills, especially coaching and people development.

  • Solid regulatory compliance knowledge (GMP, OSHA, FRAP, etc.).

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
