Lilly Associate Director – Indianapolis Device Manufacturing Supply Chain in Indianapolis, Indiana

As an Associate Director – Indianapolis Device Manufacturing Supply Chain, you’ll play a pivotal part in maintaining a reliable supply of devices and device parts across our growing global network of manufacturing locations. You will have the opportunity to support and advance standard processes and tools to manage supply planning for device component supply across a growing global network of contract manufacturing (CM) partners and device assembly manufacturing sites. This will include processes of multi-source demand consolidation, forecasting alignment, capacity analysis and Sales and operational planning (S&OP), monitoring of execution of plans, inventory projection modeling, as well as governance and communications for network supply to customers and patients in need.

The Contract Manufacturing function within Indianapolis Device Manufacturing (IDM) provides for and enables the reliable supply of devices and device components. The Supply Chain Associate Director provides the leadership and direction necessary for the achievement of IDM site objectives of safety, quality and customer service to IDM customers. The Supply Chain Associate Director promotes supply chain functional processes to the Contract Manufacturers and IDM and enables robust customer service, establishes and maintains effective and efficient supply chains. Provides Supply Chain leadership and SAP expertise to the Contract Manufacturers and IDM.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply deep technical understanding of supply chain process to meet the needs of the business

  • Communicate and influence across functions and geographies and at multiple levels – internally and with external partners,

  • Navigate change and ambiguity through growth as future capabilities mature and develop

  • Ensures the existence of a safe working environment for Supply Chain team

  • Provides ambitious and exciting environment for Supply Chain team

  • Establishing and consistently communicating clear and relevant performance expectations.

  • Providing direct timely and appropriate performance feedback

  • Mentoring in the creation of career objectives and associated development plans.

  • Establishing ownership and accountability through involving team members in the design and/or implementation of departmental processes and measurements.

  • Identification of required training and monitoring of training compliance.

  • Champions superior supply chain performance through establishment of and/or compliance to processes such as:

  • Supply Chain audits at the Contract Manufacturing sites

  • Execution and lead of SOP for IDM and contract manufacturers

  • Demand management – forecast share, order maintenance and customer communications

  • Production and Inventory Planning – short and long-term inventory projections for device and device components.

  • Establishes and uses existing performance metrics for key process points.

  • Develops capacity requirements planning through the contract manufacturers

  • Implements global processes and acts as a key contact point with the Global Supply Chain

  • Establishes and promotes relevant technical skills in the department through:

  • Encouraging employees to obtain and apply relevant certifications from recognized professional organizations (i.e., APICS)

  • Ensuring employees acquire capabilities to operate in a self-sufficient manner in the use of the primary business applications (i.e., SAP/APO)

  • Establishing the expectation and coaching employees in the use of data-driven and analytical approach to problem solving through the use of available software (Excel, Visio)

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain, or a relevant technical field

  • 7 or more years' experience preferred in supply chain planning, manufacturing, or sourcing/procurement preferably on a global scale, preferably in a regulated industry.

  • Experience with supply chain system software tools (e.g. SAP)

  • Advanced skills with key applications for support of program management (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.)

  • Highly developed analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

  • Excellent presentation & reporting skills.

  • Thorough mindset with the ability to connect the dots across the supply chain

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across multiple organizations/functions.

  • Knowledge of SAP as it relates to supply chain transactions and overall processes.

  • Experience in Supply Chain management from a manufacturing perspective

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and achieve results outside own organization

  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely to a broad group of people and stakeholders

  • Responsible for promoting a safe work environment and working safely

Additional Preferences:

  • Highly skilled communicator with ability to effectively communicate sophisticated concepts to others.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to form and maintain positive relationships internally and externally and effectively engage with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in tools for data analysis and visualization (e.g., Excel, Python, Tableau, Power BI etc.)

  • Proven analytical capabilities targeted at planning/inventory models and metrics.

  • Supply Chain Knowledge – APICS certification preferred.

  • Organized & self-motivated.

  • Experience in balancing operational projects and strategic initiatives with a demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members and deliver results

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty. Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize problems, develop, and implement solutions.

  • APICS certification or willingness to achieve

  • Experience in Supply Chain or Logistics roles

  • Experience in developing and mentoring people

  • Six Sigma Black belt or Green belt certification
