Lilly Automation Engineer (Night Support) in Indianapolis, Indiana

This Engineer - Automation (night support) role will support the Indy Parenteral Manufacturing site on a night shift basis.

As the mission of Indianapolis Parenteral has evolved, the need for the reliable availability of equipment and our machines is becoming crucial. Our processes are staffed to operate round the clock.

To support this, we are in search of a motivated engineer who can support multiple building in a night coverage capacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve safety culture

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve more difficult equipment and operational problems.

  • Function as automation subject matter expert of platforms of responsible equipment/system across multiple buildings at IPM.

  • Communicate effectively with others, especially process team members, operations, engineering tech, and crafts personnel.

  • Perform impact assessments of varying levels of changes to responsible equipment/systems.

  • Evaluate activities for impact to qualified state of equipment.

  • Understand equipment reliability issues with the objective of improvement.

  • Coordinate with site/corporate asset management personnel to replicate improvements and assure alignment of maintenance and other equipment activities.

  • Identify and drive improvements associated with equipment within the area.

  • Apply formal problem-solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis, to resolve equipment issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.

  • 2 or more years of experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Demonstrated competency with automation/controls platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Allen Bradley and B&R.

  • Strong equipment/process troubleshooting skills.

  • Previous experience in Pharmaceutical Industry (manufacturing) or other highly regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated competency with machine vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, etc. would be a

  • Experience as qualified electrical worker.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others.

  • Knowledge and experience of GMP manufacturing environment.

  • Adequate interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Other Information

  • 8-hour night shift

  • Must be willing to work extended hours during peak periods.

  • Must be willing to respond to off-hour emergencies, when necessary.

  • Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc.
