Eli Lilly & Co. is seeking a Research Scientist-Clinical Veterinarian in the Department of Nonclinical Safety Assessment within the Division of Veterinary Resources. Veterinary Resources is a valued department within Lilly and this position will have significant access to resources, high visibility, and commensurate opportunities to influence development. Work within a multifunctional team to provide scientific and clinical expertise for an AAALAC accredited laboratory animal program.
Administrative skills for handling multiple projects and leading cross functional teams.
Provide clinical and surgical support for in vivo research in Lilly Research Laboratories
Work closely with research scientists in the development and implementation of animal models.
Assist in development of protocols for review by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Provide training for animal use personnel
Monitor and facilitate compliance with all applicable regulations, policies and guidelines related to the use of animals in research.
Other activities could include assessment of outsourcing facilities, internal training activities, review of animal use protocols and scientific leadership for animal models of pharmacology and toxicology.
- DVM or VMD with at least 1 year of clinical practice experience or post-graduate training
Additional preferred skills:
Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Indiana or acquire within 12 months of hire
Track record in comparative medicine research with an emphasis on pharmacology and toxicology.
Excellent problem-solving abilities through utilization of good judgment and networking skills.
Ability to influence others (both cross-functionally and within the function) in order to create a positive working environment.
Highly motivated and self-directed with proven organizational skills and experience in self managing priorities and projects.
Strong interpersonal skills with positive and professional approach.
Detail oriented, flexible and willingness to work in complex environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Completion of a residency in laboratory animal medicine preferred.
ACLAM Board certification candidates preferred.
AAALAC site visit experience preferred.
