Responsibilities:

The Immunology Discovery Research Division of Eli Lilly and Company is looking to further improve the scientific talent base of the Immunology Therapeutic Area located at the Lilly Research Laboratory site in Indianapolis. Our team is dedicated to the investigation of mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and to discovering and developing both small molecule and biologic agents for the treatment of these diseases. You will join our research efforts to find drugs that function as immune modulators for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. The most meaningful elements for this position are the ability to serve as a critical cross-functional partner in the drug development process and support the development of assays and/or reagents critical for data-driven decisions on small molecule and biotherapeutics targeting critical networks in autoimmunity. We are looking for a bench scientist that has a real passion for immunology and a determination to make a clinical impact for patients.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in assay development and implementation of assays to assess the activity of small molecule inhibitors and biologics.

  • Experience with a wide range of standard laboratory techniques: ELISA, reporter assays, Western blot analysis, qPCR.

  • Experience specifically associated with immunological methods such as flow cytometry, primary immune cell culture, FACS, and T and B cell signaling.

  • Experience using pre-clinical models for testing therapeutics and studying pathogenesis of immunological dysfunction.

  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to engage in experimental design, and data analysis.

  • Experience with software for data analysis (Excel, GraphPad Prism, JMP, etc.).

  • Effective communication skills, self-­management, task planning and organization.

  • An ability to work both independently as well as cross-functionally in a team environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and acquire new skills and methodologies as they become necessary in a changing work environment.

  • Prior experience supporting drug discovery program within a biotech or pharmaceutical matrixed environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology or related field and 2 or more years of academic or industry research experience in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry or
