Lilly Consultant-Corporate Tax Attorney in Indianapolis, Indiana
The position is responsible for researching, monitoring, advising, and documenting tax legal matters in a variety of areas of U.S. tax law, including income, international, executive compensation, employee benefits, and tax-exempt organizations. The position is also responsible for reviewing, advising and negotiating the tax aspects of legal agreements with third parties on procurement and business development transactions.
Provide tax legal advice and support to department personnel on a wide variety of U.S. federal tax matters;
Provide tax legal advice and support to the Lilly Foundation, the Lilly Cares Foundation, and the company with respect to its charitable and philanthropic activities;
Review, advise and negotiate procurement and business development transactions with third parties;
Provide tax advice and support on certain international tax projects and global and regional projects within non-European affiliates;
Provide tax legal advice and support to Human Resources (compensation and benefits, executive compensation, equity, mobility) and Lilly Grants Office;
Monitor relevant tax legislation and evaluate impact to company;
Lead efforts on improving tax processes and tax education;
Serve as a knowledge source for certain global tax policies and practices;
Prepare (from time to time) financial and tax spreadsheet analysis associated with the above tax areas;
Possess ability to work well under stressful conditions in conjunction with negotiation of third party transactions.
Knowledge of U.S. Federal, International, Executive Compensation, Employee Compensation and Benefits, and Tax-Exempt Organization tax laws
Experience drafting and negotiating tax provisions of legal agreements with third parties
Ability to business partner with company legal, finance and business personnel, as well as external tax and legal counsel
CPA, MST or LLM Degree or equivalent experience
May require travel to regional affiliates on as needed basis
May require teleconferences before/after normal work hours
