New Product Planning (NPP) within Lilly Diabetes serves as a bridge between Lilly’s discovery and research organization and customers. The function plays a vital role in creating meaningful connections and remarkable experiences for customers starting from early stages of discovery and development. Diabetes NPP influences diabetes portfolio research and development strategy and drives the asset development strategy through the creation and evolution of the asset profiles. NPP is accountable for ensuring that the development decisions set the asset up for commercial success beyond approval by meeting the needs of patients, physicians, and payers. We achieve this by partnering with market research colleagues to conduct market research to uncover new insights, building upon our reservoirs of existing knowledge, and partnering with LRL colleagues to inform clinical study parameters, particularly endpoints, comparators, and target patient populations.

This consultant position is responsible for collaborating with early asset program teams and providing commercial stewardship throughout the key development milestone for the pipeline of diabetes assets. This role has a particular focus on orals and non-insulin biologics for the treatment of diabetes. As molecules often have potential for other indications such as obesity, CV, and NASH, Team Lilly mindset and collaboration across teams are essential for this role to maximize the value to the patients and Lilly’s stakeholders. The consultant will also support portfolio strategy and commercial assessment of business development opportunities.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • To have a deep understanding of diabetes, market landscapes, competitive development efforts, and value needs of patients, physicians, and payers

  • To create and continue to evolve asset profiles and asset strategy. Ensure assets profiles are built on unmet needs, deep customer insights, and future competitive dynamics

  • To ensure asset profiles and asset strategy are cohesive across assets, as assets can be part of the multiple shots on goal

  • To effectively partner cross-functionally and drive the alignment of asset strategy

  • To provide commercial input into device development by partnering with DDCS organization

  • To drive the commercial deliverables to support investment decision along the asset development milestones

  • To evaluate commercial value of external business development opportunities

  • To closely work with Lilly Market Research partners to ensure that key market research is designed to deliver insights and understandings at specific points along the asset development process

  • To engage key regions and affiliates by driving the dive process

Additional Information:

  • Position requires approximately 10% international and domestic travel

  • Occasional evening conference calls will be necessary in order to engage with affiliates
