Global Manufacturing and Quality Learning and Development organization provides learning solutions to help Lilly's Manufacturing and Quality Organization achieve Operational Excellence. The Consultant-Learning/Dev Strategy position is responsible for defining, creating, managing, and maintaining large scale learning strategies that enhances organizational capabilities. The role will serve as a performance consultant to assess critical business needs and recommend learning solutions that address capability gaps in assigned Global Manufacturing and Quality Functions. The Consultant is responsible for interfacing with Lilly Global Learning Solutions, vendors, and Global Manufacturing and Quality Learning and Development (GMQLD) personnel to ensure learning solutions meet the learning and development needs. Interaction with business and learning governance bodies is required to deliver effective learning strategies, manage budget, and meet project timelines. This consultant position will primarily support Corporate Engineering and Global Health and Safety.


Performance Consulting

  • Partner with senior manufacturing leadership to develop and influence strategies for identifying, prioritizing, and funding near and long term large scale performance improvement and employee capability interventions in alignment with quality, compliance, safety, and ethical standards.

  • Define and execute governance process to ensure GMQLD projects/initiatives are appropriately integrated into the overarching learning management process.

  • Provide near term and long term forecast for L&D related projects/initiatives for supported sites/function.

  • Analyze needs, develop, and implement learning interventions and evaluation strategies based on business needs.

  • Develop and communicate strategy and implementation plans for learning interventions and other related initiatives.

  • Monitor and summarize progress for implemented learning interventions and other related initiatives.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning interventions and other related initiatives.

  • Stay abreast of technologies and the breadth of learning solutions to drive and influence business partners to adopt the most effective learning methods, solutions and outcomes.

  • Collaborate to drive and influence internal L&D process improvements that impact the results within a function, site or geography.

  • Maintain linkages with professional L&D associations and other Lilly L&D teams.

Client Management

  • Provide leadership of strategic initiatives across networks/functions, ensuring sponsorship and delivery of results on time and within budget.

  • Consult with business partners to prioritize and fund learning solutions and develop business plan inputs.

  • Partnership with leadership to scope and prioritize the portfolio of learning solutions and determine integration points across function, site or geography related to the business area’s learning and performance improvement needs.

  • Appropriately challenge business leadership regarding ways to use performance-based learning as a strategic lever for their organization.

  • Use expertise with governance and leadership teams to influence business decisions related to developing the capabilities of personnel.

  • Monitor client satisfaction to ensure the learning strategy implementation provides business value (across function, site or geography).

  • Influence learning organization through knowledge gained from relationship with internal and external colleagues and business partners.

Learning Solutions Portfolio Management

  • Define qualification programs based on business requirements.

  • Lead the establishment and maintenance of the curriculum architecture.

  • Partner with L&D personnel to ensure audit-readiness and interface with auditors, inspectors, regulators or outside stakeholder on business issues as required.

  • Provide leadership of governance processes as assigned.

  • Anticipate and resolve escalation points on associated learning business problems that impact the function, site or geography.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 5 years of experience in HR, Benefits, Learning and Development or a business facing role.

Additional Skills/ Preferences

  • Demonstrated large scale customer/account management and global program/portfolio management skills.

  • Demonstrated performance consulting skills.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Experience supporting or participating in audits and inspections.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership skills.

  • Experience in building and maintaining effective relationships at a variety of leadership levels and with collaborator/supplier organizations.

  • Experience working with Lilly Manufacturing and Quality or GMP-regulated environment (strongly preferred).

  • Experience in proactive strategic learning and development consultation.

  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and administration.

  • Experience managing large scale budgets and implementing cost savings.

  • Ability to effectively partner globally.

  • Ability to navigate complex, matrix-based organizations.

  • Knowledge of systems used to execute common business and L&D processes.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Flexibility and creativity.

  • Motivational and team-building skills.

  • M.S. degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning, Human Resources, or related experience/education.

  • Human Performance Improvement (HPI) Certification.
