Execute specific deal support and transaction consultation with Corporate Business Development and Corporate Finance and Investment Banking (CFIB) to meet and exceed their expectations.
Participation in the overall compliance of Forms 10-Q and 10-K, troubleshooting accounting issues with affiliates and other key groups within the organization, provision of accounting operational and technical guidance to assure compliance with US GAAP and Lilly Global Accounting Policies and Practices, and technical accounting research.
Range of services also includes specific accounting technical support, implementation of new accounting pronouncements, ensure financial accounting policies are updated and implemented on a global basis, participating in preparation/review of annual and quarterly financial statement filings, providing creative solutions, resolving business issues and ensuring effective implementation of deals signed.
Position requires deep and broad technical accounting expertise to advise and support multiple business units on a global basis. Position is also expected to keep abreast of emerging changes in accounting rules and attempt to influence the changes as appropriate, as well as educating the organization on pending changes and the potential impact on the business.
Time in position will be a minimum of three years.
Lilly Corporate Headquarters, reports to Senior Advisor, Corporate Financial Reporting.

Significant participation in implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
Prepare/review portions of the annual report and quarterly filings
Troubleshooting accounting issues and providing technical accounting consultation to various internal financial groups and global affiliates ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
Actively participate in the evaluation and interpretation of changes in US GAAP and the impacts to our company. Educate appropriate groups in the organization regarding the changes.
Monitor emerging changes in accounting rules that could have an impact on our business and evaluate the potential impact. Attempt to influence the rule-making process through the comment letter process and other means as appropriate.
Provide training on accounting matters to internal customers and lead internal accounting update sessions.
Monitor and coordinate revisions and updates to the Global Accounting and Financial Standards. Provide leadership and influence to accounting policy committee and ensure that financial standards reflect the current accounting rules, are understood by the key compliance areas, and are implemented across Lilly. Ensure that standards are communicated and implemented globally.

Solid technical accounting background with extensive knowledge of current US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Strong and recent experience researching and resolving multiple complex, technical accounting issues
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and influence others
Solid problem solving skills and ability to be innovative and creative
High learning agility
Strong self-management skills
Ability to perform well under pressure
Extensive knowledge of Excel
Experience with large, multi-national corporations
Experience with merger and acquisition activity, including the related due diligence
SAP knowledge helpful
Overtime will be required at peak project times
Minimal travel required

Technical Accounting Lead
Accounting degree – CPA required and must be maintained
Must have 6+ years of relatively current public accounting or similar experience
