Organization Overview:

The Health and Safety Advisor – Global Manufacturing HSE is a subject matter expert for specific Health and Safety (HS) aspects as assigned (may include, but is not limited to, Lockout Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, Equipment Safeguarding, Fall Protection/Fall Prevention, Powered Industrial Vehicles). Persons in this role will possess detailed knowledge of global regulatory requirements and have a practical knowledge of implementation as it applies to each applicable business area. This role is responsible for written programs, providing input to internal Standards content and associated audit protocols, and maintaining technical documents associated with the applicable HS aspects. Persons in this role serve as a key contact for technical and regulatory inquiries generated by business areas, auditors, and management, and will provide technical leadership globally to drive continuous improvement in company HSE performance.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical safety leadership for assigned HS Aspects:

  • Manage global requirements and associated metrics for HS aspects to drive continuous improvement in company HSE performance.

  • Identify and coordinate program improvements necessary for regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and culture improvement.

  • Serve as a technical expert for physical hazard risk assessments and conduct global risk assessments as requested.

  • Serve as a technical expert for facility design reviews, capital project reviews, and engineering control recommendations.

  • Participate in the GHSE Audit Program and site assessments, as necessary.

  • Participate in compliance audits, third party assessments and regulatory reviews, as necessary.

  • Work closely with site practitioners to improve proficiencies and conformance to standards, and partner with site HSE Leaders for staff technical development.

Drive learning from events and replication of critical controls:

  • Work in strong partnership with the GHSE Alert process owner to co-develop HSE Alerts.

  • Serve as a global deviation mentor for HS event investigations; develop structure and drive implementation across the Manufacturing organization.

Participate in Manufacturing implementation of HSE IT platforms:

  • Actively participate in efforts to implement global permitting module and other globally deployed solutions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Ten years of experience in HSE or Engineering in Manufacturing.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Proven ability to lead teams and solve HSE problems.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and demonstrated ability to influence others.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Safety-related professional technical certification(s).

Additional Information:

  • Position will require primary work location in Indianapolis with occasional domestic and international travel for project work (up to 20% of year).

  • This is NOT a remote role and will require on-site presence.
