What You’ll Be Doing

This role combines data, cloud, and software engineering skills to create the next generation of data infrastructure for Research and Development (R&D), plan data strategies, and implement the solutions to handle data across R&D use cases. This role will focus on the technical leadership and direction, partnering with the various business areas to ensure the proper data solution is implemented to enable data driven drug discovery.

How You’ll Succeed

  • As the leader you will analyze, plan, and define the data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, usability, and stability to help ensure that it meets functional needs, and that it performs adequately as additional solutions are implemented.

  • You will own and drive critical data initiative designs and decisions that are delivered on time and on budget.

  • With your data expertise you will ensure FAIR Data principles to enhance insights and takeaways across R&D.

  • Devising and implementing data strategies and data models to address shareholders’ data needs and goals, you’re working with domain experts to translate business requirements into data solutions.

  • With your superb communication and influence skills you will work closely with architects and technology leads to deliver standardization and governance. Creating and implementing data management processes and procedures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

  • As the data expert across R&D, you will enable connection and communications across the broader organization and influencing short-long range business plans that outpace business and tech evolution.

  • With a high level of intellectual curiosity, you will understand the internal and external landscape to ensure ideas are brought forward, including data acquisition, and incorporated into strategies and roadmaps.

What You Should Bring

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and translate strategies to plans.

  • Strong leadership, relationship, and communication skills with the ability to influence broadly across organizations and work effectively across levels.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and completing sophisticated organizational change initiatives.

  • Ability to lead and plan solution design enabled by conceptual and logical architectures.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate end-state business, information, and technology models into reference patterns and standards.

  • Advanced communication skills (both oral and written) demonstrating effectiveness in communicating business capability enablement through information management platforms.

  • Ability to coordinate across architects and developers to create the “end-to-end” view of the entire information landscape and roadmap.

  • Sophisticated knowledge of enterprise data/information architecture.

  • Extensive experience working with key data involved in the drug discovery processes.

Your Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years working in a position with information management technical leadership responsibilities in drug discovery with expertise in related process, technology and information flows.

  • Minimum 8 years of information management solution implementation experience enabling data strategies.

  • Working experience and deep expertise in event driven data workflows & queues (e.g. Kafka), as well as more traditional relational NoSQL DBs (e.g. PostgreSQL, Mongo DB), and data processing tool stacks like spark.

  • Experience in delivering modern data solutions on the Cloud.

  • Experience in scaling large scale data workflows across multiple machines, and modeling complex data schemas (logical, physical).

  • Prior experience in similar strategy and operational roles.
