The Medicines Development Unit plays a critical role in progressing the Lilly pipeline and driving the delivery of medicines from the time molecules leave the scientific research environment through product launch. Medicines Development IDS (MD IDS) is responsible for establishing the information management and technologies to enable the future capabilities of MDU, for delivery of solutions to meet approved information management and technology initiatives, and for the stability of the current solutions to meet evolving business needs. Within MD IDS, Global Patient Safety (GPS) IDS helps speed innovation to patients by ensuring drug safety through the delivery of sound benefit-risk science that ultimately enables the right treatment to the right patient at the right time.
This role within the Global Patient Safety Service Delivery team is focused on providing innovative safety solutions to improve the lives of patients and maintain the highest level of compliance. This role will serve as the primary point of contact to support key technologies that leverage machine learning, automation, analytics, and cloud. Maintain application uptime/performance and lead a support team in resolving critical incidents or problems as necessary.
Development – Translate the design elements (configuration/development and data integration) from the business requirements and provide these to developers, or product vendors. Participate in coding, configuration, and development activities periodically.
Testing – Ensure system testing methods are appropriate, coordinated, and comprehensive to decrease the probability of unexpected system issues or inability to optimize the systems’ use to maximize business benefit.
Deployment –Contribute to the successful plan and execution of the deployment of the project or system changes, which includes support for training, business adoption, implementation, and stabilization activities.
ITIL processes – Strong understanding and ability to implement/maintain IT best practices (e.g. ITIL) for service management processes.
Execute and lead technical development/build activities; set technical direction; support software integration and data integration activities.
Ensure proper technical and business requirements have been appropriately defined for each project and are consistent with local and global requirements and best practices.
Analyze and communicate project status to multiple audiences, including all levels of management.
Build effective relationships with business areas using business and systems analysis skills to determine key business needs and influence technology solutions specifically related to business processes.
Evaluate proposed project ideas/software changes through technical impact analysis and estimated business value to influence decision making.
Document business requirements and effectively communicate them to software vendors, developers, and testers, in a way that is understandable and complete to achieve business and project objectives.
Influence the execution of projects in collaboration with vendors, business partners, team, and management.
Use standardized processes for requirements definition, analysis, design, construct, and test activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business, Computer Science or related technical field
2 years of experience with software development life cycle, spanning the lifecycle from project initiation to deployment, support, and retirement
Experience with Amazon Web Services (Cloud formation, Lambdas, Glue, RDS) and implementation of those services in a regulated (GxP) environment
Experience with development and analysis languages such as PL/SQL, Python, Java, RESTFul Web Services
Demonstrated ability to broadly influence business and IDS leaders across the organization
Experience with HP ALM, GitHub, Slack, JIRA
Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques
Experience with Agile SCRUM, Critical Chain, and ITIL methodologies
Experience leading teams
The position is located at Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis, IN
Travel may be required periodically
