The Global Packaging and Global Serialization Program is responsible for providing engineering and technical support for Lilly commercial packaging operations worldwide.

In addition, the Serialization group is responsible for ensuring Lilly follows the global legislation that products be uniquely identified, tracked, and reported to regulatory bodies. The Global Serialization Program (GSP) manages the complex activities needed to successfully implement, support, and adapt solutions to meet these requirements across the company.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and technical support for Packaging Automation with the delivery of new assets as well as a function with the Serialization team.

  • Analysis of operations, workflows, and packaging process to provide solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Assist Packaging sites with developing and implementing process improvements and technology upgrades that help with minimizing costs and production issues.

  • Assist with building process flow models to predict bottlenecks and resources needed for projects or for Sites

  • Major Capital Support - Provide support to Global Facilities Delivery for both conceptual and detailed design and testing on Major capital projects.

  • Knowledge sharing – Serve as a key resource to support site packaging automation groups, domestic and global and gain support for ides or positions on difficult issues.

  • Leads the Technical Agenda for the Serialization Team

  • Prepares presentations and technical reports.

  • Establish key relationships with Sites.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years Engineering experience in plant, process, project delivery, maintenance or related fields supporting packaging operations

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience with automation, packaging equipment, specifications, qualification/validation process, product/package stability, and packaging components

  • Experience with vendor management

  • Problem Solving skills – Anticipates and resolves complex problems.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction

  • Ability to work across boundaries (functional, geographic, external company, etc).

  • Thorough technical understanding of the quality systems and regulatory requirements,

  • Familiarity with technology advances in packaging

  • Project management experience

Additional Information:

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, US and international.

  • Will require occasional work in a variety of manufacturing environments; some safety equipment and/or gowning may be required.
