Lilly Post-Doctoral Scientist - Mass Spectrometry (FDE) in Indianapolis, Indiana

  • Develop advanced MS experimental and complementary in-silico modeling and visualization techniques to study impurity (e.g., extractable/leachable) biomolecule interactions in biotherapeutic formulations.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related discipline, with a strong emphasis on mass spectrometry.

Additional Preferences:

  • Hands-on experience in performing LC-MS experiments for structural determination and quantification including sample preparation and chromatographic separations.

  • Demonstrable track record of crafting and performing LC-MS experiments to bring business value with deliverable outcome.

  • Experience in advanced mass spectrometry techniques (e.g., FT ICR-MS, MRMS).

  • Experience with microfluidic systems and interface with LC-MS desirable.

  • Experience with both COTS and customized software applications for modeling and visualization of complex structurally/compositionally diverse molecular mixtures.

  • Ability to get along with multifunctional technical/non-technical personnel and be an effective participant in a team environment capable of carrying out independent research programs with minimum supervision.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience in maintaining advanced LC-MS instruments (e.g., superconducting magnets, HPLC systems, software).

  • Understanding of biomolecular and small molecule organic chemistry and structure (e.g., impurities, proteins, antibodies, RNA).

  • Experience with traditional biophysical techniques.

  • Position Location: Indianapolis, IN.

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years.
