Lilly Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Inflammation/Autoimmunity/Fibrosis-FDE in Indianapolis, Indiana

Are you looking to make a significant difference by contributing to the search for a cure for fibrotic diseases with limited treatment options? This role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists focused on identifying novel therapeutic strategies to address unmet medical needs pertaining to inflammatory, autoimmune, and fibrotic diseases. We are committed to developing innovative, groundbreaking therapies for the treatment of these diseases and associated complications.

We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to contribute to highly impactful research projects. This project will contribute to the development of a world-class drug discovery program. You will gain top industry experience, will work on innovative projects with quality science and will have a high likelihood to get them published. Expectations for this role include:

  • Support drug discovery efforts as part an inter-disciplinary team of scientists.

  • Establish cell-based assays and work with animal models to facilitate the identification and characterization of targets that play a role in targeted diseases.

  • Work closely with scientists in other functional areas aimed at establishing ways to knockdown genes in vitro and in vivo using RNA therapeutics.

  • Perform studies to understand the role of targets in the disease process and delineate the mechanism of action of therapeutics.

  • Present findings at international conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

We are looking for a hardworking scientist with a good understanding of molecular and cellular biology and a strong background in the molecular mechanisms involved in diseases. Basic Qualifications

PhD in life science related field such as Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology, etc.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Cell culture, transfections, cell-based assays; mRNA and protein expression analysis of targets in cells and tissues, cell/tissue localization of targets

  • Experience with siRNA mediated knockdown

  • Understanding of receptor-mediated internalization of molecules and interaction of inflammatory/immune cells and structural cells in the fibrotic process

  • Excellent communication skills and experience presenting in scientific meetings, along with a strong publication record

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting

Additional Information

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years.
