Are you looking to make a significant difference by contributing to protein structure characterization with mass spectrometry? We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to contribute to highly visible research projects. Your work will contribute to the development of structural characterization of therapeutic proteins by mass spectrometry. In this role, you will:
Establish high throughput hydroxyl radical foot printing platform. Execute protein labeling and LC-MS experiment, analyze data and compile results.
Apply the platform to: investigate protein-protein and protein-excipient interactions in high concentration formulation; study structure-function relationship and learn how PTMs impact biologic activities; map epitope and glycan-mediated interactions.
Reside in the protein characterization team in BRD, work with scientists specialized in pharmaceutical analytical development by mass spectrometry, have access to advanced LC-MS instrumentation and powerful computational tools, interact cross-functionally with discovery, bioprocess and formulation development.
Identify areas of key need across clinical development and champion creative solutions to address those needs. Maintain external awareness and learning to benefit the organization.
Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
This role will be embedded in Lilly’s Medicines Innovation Hub (MIH), which serves as leading-edge scientific unit working across all disease areas to identify and develop quality targets, hits, leads, and drug candidates.
PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related field
Experience in peptide mapping and intact analysis by LC-MS for PTM quantitation
Experience in protein higher order structure analysis by mass spectrometry in the areas such as hydroxyl radical labeling, covalent labeling and crosslinking
Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.
Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.
Proficient in data analysis and reporting using commercial software including Protein Metrics, BioPharma Finder, MassLynx, XCalibur, etc.
Experienced with Orbitrap and Q-ToF MS instrumentations and HPLC systems from major vendors including Thermo and Waters
Experienced with protein chemistry, purification and sample preparation, including bottom-up proteomics workflow
Experience with glycan analysis is a plus
HDX-MS and protein structural modeling experiences are desirable but not necessary.
This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.
