Lilly Research Scientist - ADME in Indianapolis, Indiana

Do you have knowledge of properties and/or enzyme systems responsible for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of xenobiotics? We are excited to be enhancing our capabilities in our ADME organization. Lilly is seeking a technical leader to lead all aspects of the creation and operation of an ADME in vitro screening laboratory. This role will be integral to the advancement of our small molecule discovery portfolio. The ideal scientist will design, develop, and implement high-throughput in vitro assays optimized to speed data delivery. The successful candidate will have good laboratory, analytical, automation and project management skills as well as an understanding of drug disposition (ADME) science.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Create in vitro laboratory which includes collaborations with facilities, health and safety and technical experts.

  • Develop, validate, implement and/or approve appropriate analytical or enzymatic assays and methods including, but not limited to, CYP450 inhibition, plasma stability, solubility, and microsomal clearance.

  • Responsible for the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, documentation and/or reporting of studies.

  • Develop framework and optimize flow of work from compound submission to data readout

  • Evaluate new technologies, techniques, study designs or equipment and assess the applicability to optimize productivity.

  • Understand application of ADME screening data within discovery and apply such knowledge improve assays and/or design and development novel assays.

  • Perform administrative tasks associated with laboratory safety, maintenance, and operation.

  • Serve as QC/QR reviewer for data notebooks and documents

  • Supervise scientific activities of associate and technician level scientists.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD in relevant scientific area or MS degree with a minimum 7 years or BS degree with minimum 10 years of relevant experience in biology, pharmacology, chemistry, or related field

Additionally, preferred skills will include:

  • Analytical experience including operation of triple quad mass spectrometers

  • Experience in cell culture of mammalian cell lines

  • Experience with high throughput automation

  • Ability to rapidly learn new concepts and to work independently to develop assays/methods.

  • Strong written, verbal communication and project management skills

  • Demonstrated results/experience in work on interdisciplinary teams.
