The Lilly Diabetes and Complications Research organization has created a research team focused on discovery and preclinical development of novel and best-in-class therapeutics for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complications associated with these diseases. We are looking for an experienced image analysis scientist who will provide technical leadership in the analysis of imaging data supporting disease understanding, drug discovery and development from preclinical through translational and early clinical research. In addition, the candidate will explore new opportunities to apply advanced microscopy, histopathology and immunohistochemistry for next generation drug research.

Work closely with multiple discovery scientists in the development and validation of imaging biomarkers to support pre-clinical drug discovery and early drug development.
Provide consistent in-house analysis across the diabetes programs
Enable in-house quality control and oversight of imaging data
Work with Lilly Information Technology to evaluate and incorporate software tools that enhance image analysis capabilities
Support platforms/multigenerational programs by applying learning from image data to improve analysis methods and endpoints for future studies
Prepare and present documentation of imaging and/or study results to corporate committees, regulatory agencies, and outside audiences
Publish results of research projects and clinical trials as appropriate.
Contribute to study design and writing protocols and fit-for-purpose analysis plans
Support microscopy studies with image analysis using multiple platforms
Support histopathology studies by facilitating outsourcing / insourcing of histological processing and staining
Support adequate interpretation of results and contribute to final reports for studies
Attend scientific symposia as well as technical workshops in order to maintain knowledge of state-of-the art technologies
Ph.D. in Cell Biology or related field or M.Sc. with at least 5 or more years experience that includes histopathology, microscopy and image analysis
Development experience in custom-made design and implementation of image analysis algorithms to suit specific or novel needs. Specific experience with coding Visiopharm imaging analysis is highly desired.
Experience generating and analyzing whole slide images
Experience managing collaborations and outsourcing with CRO, academic and other industry partners
Experience contributing to regulatory documentation
Detailed strong research background in application and analysis of preclinical/clinical imaging/microscopy
Understanding of diabetes biology and diabetes animal models with ability to interpret imaging data to help drive understanding of disease modification
IHC and pathology study planning, outsourcing
Advanced imaging data analysis and interpretation (i.e. 3D image analysis).
Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams and projects
Strong communication skills and experience presenting data in a team environment
Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
