The Biotechnology Discovery Research (BioTDR)at Lilly discovers medicines that address significant unmet needs by integrating biology with innovative scientific capabilities in discovery of best in class and first in class biotherapeutics. We also pursue targeted delivery of various modalities of drug candidates to specific cells and tissues. We collaborate with colleagues in both the discovery and development organizations, including scientists in Neuroscience, Immunology, Diabetes and Complications, Oncology, ADME, Toxicology and clinical development. We are seeking a hardworking research scientist with tissue-specific shuttle biology and intracellular trafficking expertise to join our team. The ideal applicant will apply outstanding innovation skills to highly visible research projects and platforms at Lilly. This role will focus on the development of a new class of targeted delivery shuttles, testing applications for siRNA delivery to extrahepatic tissues, working with multiple teams to advance the targeted molecules to clinical development.
Specifically, you will have an opportunity to:
Develop novel approaches to identify and characterize delivery shuttles targeting neurons, immune cells, epithelial cells, pancreatic beta cells and other cells/tissues.
Test novel gut shuttles for intracellular delivery, organelle escape and cytoplasmic delivery of complex bioconjugates with applications for extrahepatic SiRNA delivery, blood brain barrier (BBB) delivery.
Test cell-specific shuttles for their ability to improve productive siRNA delivery.
Characterize a new generation of cell-specific delivery shuttles to understand and modulate trafficking mechanisms.
Lead and mentor a team of scientists and research associates.
Provide foundational knowledge for Lilly’s emerging antibody or peptide -oligonucleotide conjugate platform, whilst also testing the potential applications of delivery shuttles in extrahepatic SiRNA delivery or BBB delivery.
Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

PhD in life sciences related field such as cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, neurosciences.
At least 2 years of experience (can include postdoctoral research) preferably in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Multidisciplinary scientist with proven experience on intracellular trafficking, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, primary cell culture, cell-based assay development and data analysis.
Oligonucleotide research experience.
Experience or knowledge of protein/antibody chemical conjugation and biochemical characterization assessments.
Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new delivery techniques to BBB, biologic-SiRNA conjugations and innovative science on target delivery to elective cells/tissues
Demonstrated leadership abilities with ability to deliver impactful business outcomes.
